It's funny to me how excited people seem about these vibe-coded Adobe competitors when open source and free alternatives have been around for years. Yes, there are alternatives to Photoshop.

"Muse, make me the blandest little beige nothing of a corporate mascot. Now put it EVERYWHERE."
I'd be cautious about using products that:
1) ingest a ton of your personal data
2) are built by companies with a notorious history of privacy violations and leveraging user data in harmful ways.
It's all friendly now, but what happens when the economics crunch?
Just saying.

That said! I could also see something like a "compute puck" that tech-forward folks or those with more cash to spend might buy for ease-of-use around the house or extra security. A HomePod with brains. Or an old AirPort Time Capsule sorta deal with AI juice.

To reach every household you'd need to be cheap, which probably means some mix of secure cloud and existing hardware. A phone is the most powerful computer most people already own. And over time I think voice assistants like Siri will be how most people interface with LLMs.

In ten years it'll just be your iPhone doing all this. Shit, in just a year or two. Don't need AGI to know what's going on with my fridge. Sensors. Controls. And an LLM to glue it together and make it smart. Getting appliance companies on board will be the slowdown, not the tech.

AI does a better job at making crappy things decent than it does making decent things great. Creating truly delightful and surprising interfaces still takes people who are willing to go out of their way and make an extra effort. Some will. Most won't.

Also, different disciplines have their own technical jargon. Even between humans, some language needs to be compressed and made precise, sometimes becoming inscrutable to lay people. Legalese, for example. The way people communicate with LLMs will follow this same pattern.

I made a machine that sprays bullets in every direction. What's really impressive is that when I was testing it in my backyard it broke containment and shot up the neighbor's house.

I think it's that whole outer ring that's currently in flux. The walls are falling down and I think builders need to scrap some major assumptions and dig into fresh user research and design experimentation to figure out how they deliver services going forward.

For the first time yesterday, I experienced the new @alamodrafthouse QR code ordering system and I can tell you it’s truly awful. Rather than making ordering food and drink more efficient, it actually adds steps to the process AND if you want to order additional items during the film you HAVE to open your phone. No, your cute reference to that irony in your How To Alamo video doesn’t negate how ridiculous this is. Please don’t cut corners with your staff and revert back to physical menus and order cards.

We should all be responsible for making sure society's resources are applied in such a way that serves everyone's needs. Billionaires just happen to have way more power. Thus way more responsibility. Stan Lee phrased it better.

Paying appropriate levels of taxes so universal healthcare can be provided to all Americans.

Austin has over a dozen billionaires and yet our public schools can't afford librarians.

The costs of this Iran war debacle will likely be more than the cost of extending the ACA health insurance subsidies.
If you asked Americans, which do you want: another war in the Middle East or lower health care costs at home, is the margin 90 to 10? 95 to 5?

Honestly I think it strongly depends on what genre of music you're into and why you're listening. Middle-of-the-road ambient or chillhop-style elevator music? Sure. Who gives a shit. You could auto-generate mounds of that stuff 20 years ago.
But if you care about music? No way.

Good evidence that it really needs to be a federal billionaire tax.

Billionaires are the biggest freeloaders around. Impossible to amass that amount of wealth without skimming significant value off the labor of many, many people.

"AI" is a weird way to abbreviate "single-payer healthcare system."
