Forward-Deployed Engineer is such a stupid larping ass term You're a consultant building dashboards, just like the rest of us dude
Since my whole feed is now day in the life of FAANG employees, makes me laugh at what a day in the life video of a FDE at Palantir would like: A plane, a remote part of the world, at an ungodly hour of the day in seat 52f………then building in the back of the Uber, on a ship, or in a wood panel room on the shop floor…..and eating what ever food you can get out of a vending machine and pounding Celsius after Celsius because you slept for 2 hours after building all night…..then you dream about seeing your own bed weeks from now. All the real FDEs I work with wouldn’t have it any other way, the problems we have earned the right to work on are too important to be taking more snack breaks than a kindergartner.

“just airdrop 5% on the public” lmao
notice how they always have to stay in control god forbid you fucking just airdrop 5% on the public, no, they have to be able to monetize their own stock while determining how to spend it on things deemed by them as "benefits"

This all feels like it’s getting a bit out of hand
Your binder is about to get a major upgrade. Rip packs on your phone. Every pull backed by a real, physical card. Vault it or ship it. Soon on Coinbase.

In what capacity do you “work closely with the IRS” ??
Replying to @ArmandDoma
As someone who works closely with the IRS, this isn’t true. They’re just actually investing in the tech (in a sane way) to automate audits

“clocking in at an eye-watering $2,200 per controller” That seems like a pretty fair price for something that’s purpose-built to control a massive directed energy weapon in harsh environments Surprised it’s not $22,000 honestly
When journalists say "Xbox-Style controllers", they're talking about these: The Freedom of Movement Control Unit (FMCU), which is a universal, clunky, expensive... did I say EXPENSIVE handheld, clocking in at an eye-watering $2,200 per controller Can you build a better one for cheaper? Our nation needs you to.

This vial contains a new drug called PAC-3310. It was designed by ChatGPT, and I synthesized it in a chemistry lab I built in my garage. PAC-3310 is a new selective M4 muscarinic receptor agonist for treating schizophrenia - similar to the recent breakthrough drug Cobenfry, but improved. (1/7)

As someone who has worked with Walmart's team for e-commerce, perhaps it would be better if more of you knew more of the codebase firsthand
I work on a large platform team at Walmart, with roughly 3 main codebases and 10 microservices, and I kind of get what he’s saying. AI has become too powerfull to help make sense of how these repos fit together without me having to dig through everything manually (old school way) The codebase is huge, and honestly, I don’t need to understand every part of it to get my work done. I need to understand the area I’m changing, how it connects to the rest of the system, and what my changes might affect. AI makes getting that context 1000x easier .

That the Flock CEO didn’t understand the Internet enough to have the forethought to blur his house ahead of time is a huge indicator of how little he understands the world and what he’s doing

It seems like @ChicagoDOT makes this same mistake every year somehow
You know, there's a reason the City of Chicago typically does not perform bridge lifts when it's over 90 degrees outside. A lot of folks on DuSable Lake Shore Drive are getting an extremely inconvenient lesson in thermal expansion right now.
