I can not express how lucky I feel to be involved in this project and the guide that has been released. I find it hard to articulate my thoughts on the work I do and the injustice I see (and in turn perpetuate). I’m proud of the team and hope you’ll take a look.

To me, a palliative approach to care puts the focus back on the person, their desires, needs rather than the systems. This matters so much more in contexts where people have been harmed by systems #ThisIsPalliativeCare

When I read and think of this resource, I think of people: those who wrote and shaped it (who I’ve been so lucky to get to know and learn from+with) and those I’ve known who have made reading it resonate for me- in grief, in love, in rage. Anyway, smiling like this today.
That's a wrap folks! Please feel free to continue engaging with these questions through the coming days. Check out our Resource Guide and let us know what you think! equityinpalliativecare.com/p… We leave you with this great pic of @charfutch @mbusbyoconnor #ThisIsPalliativeCare

‘Chosen caregivers’ signifies different roles and relationships for everyone. Whether it be friends, pets, a worker, family (however one defines it), etc., these carers aren’t excluded from someone’s care plans and processes and are cared for, too. #ThisisPalliativeCare

Here's our final question!! Thanks to everyone for joining our convo today! Q5: A palliative approach to care focuses on the person, their family, and community. Do you think this looks different in contexts of inequity and, if yes, how so? #ThisIsPalliativeCare

Q4: If someone does not want support, you can respect their wishes-much in the same way I would hope someone would treat me if I felt that way #thisispalliativecare

Only 2 more questions left! Q4: What can inner-city workers offer people who have palliative needs but do not want the support? #ThisIsPalliativeCare

Q3: Much of the harm done in contexts of inequity involves the removal of choice for those who cannot afford to buy their autonomy. Reducing suffering means reducing the harms of our systems of care by centering people in their care decisions #thisispalliativecare

Q3 coming your way!!! A palliative approach to care focused on reducing suffering and improving quality of life. What does this look like in contexts of inequity? #ThisIsPalliativeCare

If a palliative approach to care is when someone’s care needs and wishes are heard and met in self-determined ways, then its not constricted to happening in and specific place or at any specific time. It should be everywhere and it should be all the time! #ThisisPalliativeCare

Q2: When and where do you think a palliative approach to care occurs? Why do you think that? Share your thoughts by tweet quoting this tweet or replying here! #ThisIsPalliativeCare

In a social/structural climate that doesn’t meet everyone’s needs equally, I see a palliative approach to care as a radical approach that strives to mitigate this by ensuring the person at the centre of care guides and determines the care they receive #ThisisPalliativeCare
