🤝 ENGAGEMENT:
Stakeholders draw roadmap for human rabies vaccines 💉
Today, @ifakarahealth in collaboration with @UofGlasgow, hosted a Rabies Elimination Stakeholders’ hybrid Meeting in Dodoma. The primary objective of this gathering was to introduce @gavi's plan to provide human rabies vaccines starting in 2024 and to explore how various partners can join forces to ensure that Tanzania can fully benefit from this plan.
GAVI will be investing in human Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) vaccines, a critical preventive medical treatment aimed at reducing the risk of rabies infection following potential exposure. Professor @hampson_katie, a member of GAVI's Technical Advisory Committee and professor at @UofGlasgow, described PEP as "a lifesaving treatment."
The participants comprised of @Ifakarahealth, @UofGlasgow, @wizara_afyatz, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Office of the Prime Minister's One Health coordination section, President's Office, Regional Administration and Local Government Tanzania (PO-RALG), @eGA_Tanzania, @WHO, @UdsmOfficial, @FAO, and @mdh_tanzania.
Together, they are committed to the collective goal of eliminating rabies in Tanzania and fostering a safer, healthier future for the nation. 🏥🇹🇿
