💣 Customs broker Lisa McEwan shares some truth bombs on who pays the tariffs & how the Canada government treats businesses.
1⃣ Trade made BEFORE the talks broke off still gets hit with the new tariffs.
2⃣ Most 🇨🇦 exporters pay the US tariff NOT the 🇺🇸 importers. In fact, they pay BOTH country’s tariffs!
3⃣ 🇨🇦 counter-tariffs are owed WITHIN 10 DAYS or else penalties & interest are applied. If not paid, the business could be seized.
4⃣ Most businesses can’t navigate the chaos & just stop importing.
