PRESS STATEMENT
PDP WILL NOT SUPPORT TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION
The news credited to Minister Nyesom Wike that @OfficialPDPNig candidates should collapse their structures and support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu is nothing new, except for the fact that his message is not directed at real PDP members. The message is meant for persons who, like him, are pretenders in the opposition but are working for the governing party.
The true and principled members of the Peoples Democratic Party are not part of the shameless, self-serving support for the APC-led Federal Government and its destructive policies. The paramount duty of the opposition is to provide an alternative to the incumbent, not to massage their ego. If at all opposition parties are to have an alliance, it will be amongst themselves, not with the governing party. This political anomaly, styled and championed as a “rainbow coalition,” is the greatest threat to electoral democracy and the fastest way of railroading the country into an electoral monarchy.
We urge all true and faithful members of the Peoples Democratic Party to remain steadfast as we await the judiciary’s decision, hopeful that it will return our party to its true owners. Our case at the Court of Appeal has been heard, and we await judgment. We know that the entire judiciary is conscious that justice delayed is justice denied.
Nigerians should be wary of elite accommodation and state capture masquerading as broad-based political collaboration. The election next year provides a great opportunity to vote out these insensitive and irresponsible political actors.

Elina Svitolina says her marriage with Gael Monfils is ending for multiple reasons, it’s not simply about one thing, ‘It's not always possible to explain everything behind such personal & difficult decisions in a single post. And honestly, some things are simply too personal to share publicly’
“I just want to clarity my previous post a little, because I realized that not
everyone, especially my international audience, fully understood what I was trying to say.
In that post, I shared only one of the reasons that influenced my decision and made me reflect on my life and my future. But the truth is, there's so much more to it, and it was never just about one thing.
When you've been living through the reality of war for more than 4.5 years, experiencing so many different situations, emotions, and difficult moments, you naturally start seeing life differently. Your perspective changes, your values and priorities shift, and you begin to understand what you truly want out of life.
At some point, I simply realized that I didn't want to keep living a life where I wasn't truly happy. And believe me, coming to this decision was anything but easy.
I love and respect my husband very much. And I will always love and appreciate him for the person he is. That's exactly why it was so important for me to be honest, both with him and with myself.
It's not always possible to explain everything behind such personal and difficult decisions in a single post.
And honestly, some things are simply too personal to share publicly. That was and is my view on announcing the end of our marriage but as some of you saw, Gael's career ended abruptly after he made the decision to stop based on our situation.
Unfortunately he had many accusations thrown at him and he didn't deserve that, so we jointly released a statement.
I just hope this helps you understand a little better what I was trying to say but please be kind and understanding, this is incredibly tough for us both right now.”

Nigeria’s Electricity Generation Crashes From 3,840MW To 476.70MW, Triggering Outages
Nigeria’s electricity generation crashed from about 3,840 megawatts (MW) to 476.70MW on Monday afternoon, triggering power outages in parts of the country.
Data from the Nigerian Independent System Operator’s (NISO) portal, niggrid.org, showed that generation stood at approximately 3,840MW at 7am before dropping sharply to 476.70MW by 1pm.
The decline began around 12:40pm, with the vast majority of power plants reporting zero output. Major stations, including Egbin, Jebba, Shiroro and Kainji, alongside several gas-fired facilities, recorded no generation.
Only a handful of stations, including Odukpani NIPP, Omotosho and Sapele, were contributing electricity. By 1.23pm, the dashboard showed generation at about 480MW, with only five generating companies recording output.
The development coincided with reports of power outages, as consumers took to social media to complain about interruptions between 12.45pm and 1.20pm.
However, NISO dismissed claims of a national grid collapse, insisting that there was no system-wide disturbance despite the sharp drop in generation.
A senior NISO official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the outages could have resulted from local issues.
“There is no disturbance at the moment. Probably if something is happening, maybe it is a local issue, but there is nothing on the grid,” the official said.
The official explained that temporary outages or minor tripping in certain areas did not necessarily amount to a national grid collapse.
“Some of these things are tripping or other minor issues that, within minutes, you just see that it is fixed,” he said.
The official added that NISO had directed its team to carry out a quick system check to identify any anomalies.
Monday’s development comes amid recurring grid disturbances that have raised concerns about the reliability of electricity supply to homes and businesses.
The Federal Government recently approved plans to develop new eastern and western power grids to address recurring grid failures and improve the stability of the electricity system.
Like I tweeted earlier, you are within your rights to end any relationship, you don’t even need to give an excuse, just end it and free your spouse from torture, instead of making them miserable, feeling inadequate and walking on egg shells due to your constant moods and lack of love. This is better, blame the war and move on.
Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils are ending their marriage 💔
Elina shared this message on IG:
“This is the most difficult thing I have ever had to share.
Everyone knows how much Ukraine means to me. What I have rarely spoken about is what the war has done to me inside.
Last year, I told you I needed to step away from the court because I wasn't in the right emotional space. Today, I want to open up a little more. What you didn't see were the sleepless nights, the doubts, and the feeling of slowly losing myself.
Gaël saw all of it. He never let go of my hand. We fought through this together for a long time, with everything we had.
But some battles happen deep inside you, and no amount of love from someone else can win them for you.
With time, I came to understand that I need to find my way back to myself and that I cannot do that within our marriage. It is the hardest truth I have ever had to face and the hardest thing I have ever had to tell the person I love. Gaël listened. He has respected what I need with a strength and grace I will never forget.
Gael has loved me through my greatest joys and my darkest moments, and I have loved him with all my heart. Together, we built a beautiful life, and we were given the most precious gift of all, our daughter, Skai.
Skai will always come first. Our marriage is ending, but our family is not. We will always be her parents, side by side, at every step of her life.
Please know that there is no one to blame here. There are only two people who loved each other deeply and a story that is changing shape.
We ask for your kindness and for the space we need to heal.
Thank you for your love 🤍”
