A reminder of just what the Reform councillors actually said as reported by @itvnews The @guardian and @BBCNews omitted the mention of Muslims and the diatribe targeted at them specifically

Incredibly poor by the @guardian which follows in the @BBCNews footsteps by totally excluding any mention of the blatantly anti Muslim nature of the #Reform Party councillors diatribe as documented by @itvnews 0 mentions throughout the article

Another misleading @Telegraph headline. Khan is NOT about to become England’s most common surname. The data concerns surnames given to babies, not the whole population. At most, Khan could overtake Smith among newborns if the trend continues. Well spotted @ShoaibMKhan

8/10 In 2025 @BBCr4today covered a @Moreincommon_ poll on Muslim and Jewish safety concerns but introduced the segment by highlighting rising #antisemitism while not mentioning Muslims. Again, the editorial emphasis was one-sided. xitter.cf/cfmmuk/status/19918141…
Blatant and embarrassing bias from @BBCr4today's show yesterday, which drew attention to a new @Moreincommon_ poll about Muslim and Jewish safety concerns in the UK, but introduced the segment by singling-out the rise of antisemitism and not mentioning Muslims at all...

7/10 In 2023, @BBCNewsnight promoted a film covering both #antisemitism & #Islamophobia in universities. Antisemitism received 3m 30s, including the UJS president and individual students. Islamophobia got under a minute and one student.

5/10 @BBCNews has repeatedly downplayed Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate in comparison to the coverage it has given antisemitism. A @cfmmuk analysis between the anti-Muslim attacks in Edinburgh & the Golders Green attacks showed how the latter got over 5x the airtime.

4/10 After a @cfmmuk complaint @BBCNews quietly amended an article 3 months later on election night after incorrectly claiming that the level of government funding to protect #Muslim spaces was equivalent to the funding of #Jewish spaces.

3/10 When John Ashby raped a #Sikh women in Walsall and taunted her with #Islamophobic abuse, @BBCNews refused to headline this in any of it's coverage, including the detail only in par 4 of one of its reports

2/10 In 2019 @BBCNews chose to omit a Tory councillors #Islamophobic remarks headlining only his antisemitic outburst despite @ScotNational front page clearly reporting the different hates he expressed in its original subheading.

1/10 Journalists @itvnews filmed #Reform councillors making clear anti-Muslim remarks & targeting #Muslims with their hate. @BBCNews article chose not to report any of this. Not the first time where it has omitted or downplayed #Islamophobia. There is now a clear pattern 🧵

The Centre for Media Monitoring (CfMM) retweeted
“The cartoon of a Muslim man preparing to eat a Jewish man’s head is just the latest iteration of media racism.” Faisal Hanif of @cfmmuk argues the Telegraph cartoon targeting Mothin Ali and Zack Polanski draws on both Islamophobic and antisemitic tropes.

Well said @KayBurley This is really welcome from a high profile British journalist.
Yes, Joey. She’s a democratically elected British MP, a former council leader, and she’s wearing a hijab. Which part of that do you find so difficult to accept? Her politics are fair game. Her religion and her clothes are not.

Daily Mail has changed its caption after a complaint from @cfmmuk, now naming Avi Yemini, & describing him as not as a far-right pro-Israel agitator, but a “journalist”.

The @DailyMail ran a photo of pro-Israel activist Avi Yemini squaring up to Australian police to try and illustrate a story aimed at potraying pro-Palestinian protesters as violent. They captioned the image as "Pro-Palestine protestors

2/2 The leader of an #Israeli political party called the killing of #Palestinian babies 'moral.' A former IDF general said Israel was killing babies as a hobby. Why has the Guardian not taken this evidence into account before it allowed this accusation of "blood libel?"

1/2 With Gaza's death toll so high, calling out the killing of children isn't a "blood libel". It's a response to the facts.
The Guardian has published a vile piece by Dave Rich accusing anyone who says Israel deliberately kills children of engaging in blood libel. Apparently, the slaughter of Palestinian children in Gaza is a byproduct of a “tragic and unbearable conflict”.
