Caerau Hillfort 🏰
Bryngaer Caerau 🏴
One of the largest Iron Age site of its type in south Wales. The old parish church, St Mary's, and a small ringwork, almost certainly a medieval castle site probably contemporary with the church, stand within the hillfort.
🏰 Clyne Castle
Built in 1791 by Carmarthenshire landowner Richard Phillips. Later home to the Vivian family, its guests were said to include Queen Victoria, Winston Churchill and Edward VIII.
The beautiful gardens were planted by William Graham Vivian in the 1860s
Some living Welsh History:
Sung by the Monks of Belmont Abbey at the incredible ancient ruins of Tinter.
All welcome.
Abaty Ystrad Flur.
Interesting historical site. Good visitors centre, there are more extensive monastic ruins at Neath and Margam Abbey also.
Strata Florida Abbey/Abaty Ystrad Fflur which played a critical role in the history language & literature of Wales. It became the most famous church in Wales after St Davids – a place of pilgrimage & a linchpin of Welsh culture. Courtesy @Jones8Pamela #Wales #WelshPassion
