no matter what the writers say “Mythus disrupted Herta's knowledge-seeking plans (has happened before)” is more likely than “the genius Herta is parasocial about has actually been stalking her for her entire life to make sure she fails in basically everything she's set out to do”
throwback to when Polka tried to bullshit Herta and say she was “executing Nous will/orders” but as soon as she was actually called out on it she didn't even try defend her point anymore she js said “yea i just want people like you gone”
the biggest elephant in Polka's story isnt Device IX, it's actually her connections to the Ruberts. the answer to the prophecy about Rubert 2 (“there is one who will die for you and one to whom you will perish”) is definitely “yourself” for both

my issue with how the mundanites vs geniuses is written is that they don't even try to write the mundanites anymore.
It's always been mostly a one sided problem because geniuses mostly do not care which is why we need the mundanites' perspectives the most!!! where are they??
