The Health Minister has confirmed the Ebola patient was evacuated to Switzerland for care. The case was lab-confirmed on 20th Oct. Evacuation does not mean there was no case. She probably just wanted to go home, the healthcare workers stabilised her enough, for her to be able to fly home 53 contacts are still being monitored for 21 days. Follow @NCDCgov for updates. #ipcactionnigeria
BREAKING NEWS REPORT: EBOLA PATIENT EVACUATED FROM NIGERIA VIA AIR AMBULANCE The index patient diagnosed with Ebola virus in Nigeria has been evacuated from the country early this morning through an air ambulance at the private jet wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, ARISE News sources informed us. ARISE News was tipped off by a news source that the patient who is a woman and wife of a Swiss diplomat in Nigeria would be flown out of Nigeria by 6am this morning through a medivac plane which was already at the airport waiting to evacuate her. Our crew deployed to the General Aviation Terminal later obtained pictures of the arrival of a convoy of vehicular ambulance from Abuja city centre with diplomatic vehicles in the entourage. The three vehicle convoy had an international Agency vehicle entering the Private Jet section of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport. Airport officials cordoned off the private wing of the airport but ARISE News eventually obtained videos of a medivac plane with crews eventually evacuating the sick passenger suspected to be the Ebola index case due to the special nature of the medical evacuation. A source told ARISE News that the Federal Government will make the announcement of the medical evacuation only after the plane has taken off and exited the Nigerian airspace.

One of the reasons, I enjoy running in the morning, is because of the nods I give to other runners on the road.

When NCDC says there’s A suspected case, this is what it means : It’s important that content creators, journalists and kols understand this before posting. The suspected case from Rivers tested negative. Two things shouldn’t be spreading , Ebola and misinformation. #ipcactionnigeria

Genomic sequencing shows that the Ebola virus from Nigeria’s recently reported only imported case is highly similar to that from Kenya’s @MOH_Kenya reported first imported case, differing by only one mutation. My thanks to the sequencing teams at @NCDCgov and the Institute of Genomics and Global Health @RedeemersUni , Ede, and to @christian_happi for this excellent work. We are forging ahead with public health control measures while awaiting results of further investigations and testing. Our approach is that of solidarity and global cooperation, appreciating the role our sister African nations, @AfricaCDC, Technical partners and experts @WHO, @DrTedros, @Dr_JeanKaseya, Prof. Aliko Ahmed @alikothe3rd, @Fmohnigeria as well key International partners especially The Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy (GHSD) @StateDept. We are determined to do our best to protect the lives and livelihoods of our people and we urge all Nigerians and our partners to work together with us. By the grace of we shall succeed and rise above this public health emergency as we did in 2014.

Ebola is a serious and highly infectious disease, but the risk can be reduced by taking the right precautions. Protect yourself, your loved ones and your community by making prevention a priority: ✅ Wash your hands regularly with soap and clean running water. ✅ Avoid direct contact with sick persons and their body fluids. ✅ Seek medical care early if symptoms appear. ✅ Avoid handling or consuming bush meat and wild animals. Early detection saves lives. Stay informed, stay safe and help protect those around you. #EbolaAwareness #EbolaPrevention #PublicHealth #NigeriaCDC
