I'm so sorry to Boston's children, to my patients, to my coresidents and colleagues. I wish I could say I didn't see it coming. But the saddest part is, despite the shock of it, I shouldn't be surprised.
Good bye, Floating Hospital. We'll miss you.
When I think about the work I want to do and the people with whom I want to work, I invariably have to consider that the boundaries of my work in psychotherapy are determined not by my patients, not by my nearly 12 years of education ... (1/3)
New: Those who need therapy often have to pay out of pocket or go without care, even if they have health insurance. Hundreds of mental health providers told us they fled networks because insurers made their jobs impossible and their lives miserable. propub.li/4dW1vsy
... but by the fact that insurance companies want psychiatrists to do one thing: medicate and discharge. Good psychotherapy does not have an end date. And so, with more than $300k of medical school loans in tow, how could I work in network? (2/3)

Big Pharma companies are effectively ripping life-saving inhalers out of the hands of Massachusetts families in order to avoid regulations. I'm demanding answers.

Current scene out today in front of @The_BMC!
Residents and fellows at Boston Medical Center are demanding a fair contract to better care for our patients. Because we all deserve that!

In 1998, a small residency program in Colorado lost its accreditation.
It wasn’t the kind of thing that you’d expect to change the course of academic medicine.
And yet, it *almost* did.
Earlier, I explained how the Match started. Now, I’ll tell you how it nearly collapsed.

In my 10+ years of co-survivorship, doing life with @DGlaucomflecken through 2 separate cancers, 1 SCA and fighting off his death with 10 mins of #CPR, only ONE (1) of the medical professionals we interacted with has ever asked how I was doing. Meet Roger. authors.elsevier.com/a/1giY0…

On a Native American reservation in Washington State, pregnant women scrambled to find labor and delivery care after the local hospital suddenly closed its maternity unit. It’s a trend happening at rural hospitals across the U.S. nyti.ms/3YplzeN
When your kid is in daycare, you'll get grown-up hand, foot, and mouth disease.
And now, having had that experience as a pediatrician, I'll never underestimate how painful those sores are to walk on.
Closing down pediatrics units is always detrimental. I didn't expect residency to teach this to me so categorically, but here we are.
Thanks @AStocktonFilms for taking us inside the PICU. This was Tufts. And then they shut us down. nyti.ms/3vC1S7i
The number of times this has been the only thing I can foresee helping a family, and the number of times I haven't been able to do anything to make it happen...
This is such a win.

NYT cooking has got to stop recommending this recipe to me.
I'm a pediatrician. And I have a baby. Your definition and my definition of "blowout" are not the same.
Excuse me @MBTA and @MassGovernor? 20+ minute headways during rush hour without even announcing a delay on a Friday evening is unacceptable.
As long as public transport continues to be such an abomination in a wealthy, major metropolitan area, I will never live here again.
The pediatric bed crisis isn't just here, it's everywhere. Ce n'est pas seulement ici.

I used to be the person who put off Christmas merriment because I didn't want to "wear it out" early in some weird "save the best for last" mentality.
No idea what I was thinking. Get the kid excited. Prolong the joy. There are too many unhappy things to deprive yourself of it🎄
