Before X spaces ever went public mid-2022, there were beta spaces, which started in 2021, and only a select few Twitter users could run them, most being great business women. We also had ticketed spaces where we could sell tickets to attendees for one dollar. These spaces were excellent and centered in education, business building and mental health healing. When spaces went public mid-2022, Clubhouse also changed their TOS, making it more strict there, and all of their chaos agents left that app and flooded the X scene. These are the same people pretending now that they were the first to do “peaceful” spaces. That’s a lie. They’re just low-level, cloaked up bullshitters, and they always have been. They started attacking many of us, infiltrating our peaceful spaces with sidewinding behaviors, and bullying many people who are trauma survivors and had been here communing peacefully for years. Those of us who actually were here in the beginning know the truth. So be cautious whose b/s narratives you believe. Post-BETA spaces program we hung in there until around mid-2024, some of us into 2025, and as I do, still occasionally hold spaces, but the more the chaos and dramas increased, the more we went elsewhere with our communities. Now we commune our audio spaces mainly at places like Substack and TikTok where it’s peaceful and respectful. Good people don’t remain around toxic places that don’t have any personal growth and aren’t rooted in truth, integrity and strong boundary building. We don’t want to be around drama farmers, people who steal our content and pretend it’s their original thought and don’t respect anyone’s personal agency. Everything you attend creates the environment many of you complain about, and as long as you keep attending, it will remain. Abusers are suddenly white knighting as if they’ve never been abusers and people who know they’re abusers help them white wash their histories. That’s a cult mentality. Cultists work overtime to hide harms. When you start to support good people, redirect your focus to being learning and safety centered, refusing to succumb to chaos and drama bullies, then your social environment will start to improve. Until then, the current state of this X platform is the environment you have fostered; one that upholds liars, addicts and grifters who have long histories of adverse actions and abusive behaviors. Pay attention to who does not attend spaces anymore. It will tell you a lot. Until you do better, and create better, you’ll remain stuck inside the worst. And the best will spend the bulk of their online time elsewhere. Because anyone who understands the nature of growing will always root themselves in the places where the inspiration feed their ability to thrive. I've been educating about cults and high-demand groups for over 20 years. The number one trait I see in people who get harmed is a deep desperation to belong and be seen. It gets so strong that the group becomes their whole identity. When you learn to be an individual and build a solid sense of self, you're much harder to pull into these situations. You get more careful about who you trust. You can also be part of a group without needing it to tell you that you matter. Communities are wonderful. I've run successful ones for decades, and they're still thriving. We insist on safe spaces. Our moderators have integrity and put the rules ahead of any one member. Our members have strong autonomy. Think for yourself. Be willing to be disliked to protect your own integrity. Never hand your worth over to a group or another person. That's a dangerous way to live. If a group turns on you when you stand in your righteousness, that's a major red flag. One more hard truth: you can't save people. As a cult educator, I watch people get victimized again and again, even after I've warned them openly. In the end I am dedicated to staying grounded in who I am and continuing to educate, hoping enough people will listen, heal and build strong boundaries. Stay alert. Guard your safety.
