ALT The graphic has an illustration of a person struggling with their thoughts, with text that reads: @StudentMindsOrg presents... A guide to university: Looking after your mental health at uni

ALT The text reads: Tip #1: Keep an eye on your mental health One of the best ways to help with your mental health difficulty is to keep an eye on your symptoms when they get worse. This might look like changes in appetite, sleep difficulties or something unique to you. Keeping track through a diary can help you notice these changes so that you can use strategies that help you during these tough times.

ALT Text reads: Tip #2: Prioritise your mental health When there are periods of uncertainty and change, putting your mental health second is easy. However, prioritising your mental health is more important than ever, as your well-being should always come first. This can look like: Putting your mental health above your studies Taking breaks when you need them Taking time for you and not checking social media or the news

ALT Text reads: Tip #3: Support is there for you Your university will have student support services that can help you with your mental health. They can also help you manage your studies if you need to take a break from them. If you have reached out to your GP or mental health care team, it's important to remember you can rely on them too. Attend appointments and try to keep track of all the medication that you are taking, as it will help you.

ALT Graphic with text that reads: “The Student Minds manifesto brilliantly articulates the need for integrated mental health care and improved financial support for students, and precisely how the government can support these ambitions. It also highlights the important role of students in helping shape and drive these improvements. For the University of York, these twin pillars of mental health and finance are at the heart of how we help students access, and benefit from, life-changing educational opportunities.” With an image of Charlie Jeffery

ALT Graphic with text that reads: “We join our students in supporting Student Minds’ call for more urgent support and long term commitments, focused on: Integrated mental health support: Students need improved, timely access to high-quality mental health care, with NHS funding to support a sustainable and joined up approach to care alongside University services. Enhanced financial support: We welcome all forms of funding support for students to support them through their studies, especially the commitment to review the student funding model to increase maintenance and improve the sustainability of the sector.”
