Marc Andreessen on why cities ended up with $3 million homes, public housing, and no middle class
"There's a French geographer who has the best analysis on this, a great book called Twilight of the Elites. If you replant the commanding heights of your economy on knowledge work, you're going to slam basically all economic growth into the cities"
"The cities become a magnet for two kinds of people. The highly educated elite who can afford $3 million houses, and then public housing. Who's squeezed out is the entire middle class. If you're a cop or a firefighter and you work in Palo Alto, you can be commuting 3 hours both ways just to have a house and afford a family"
"You look at the cities and there's lots of dogs, very few kids. You can't buy a house, you can't have a family. You've ejected the middle out of the cities into the countryside, but you've deindustrialized, so there's no new economic activity happening in the countryside"
Marc Andreessen reveals why housing, health care, and education keep getting more expensive while everything else gets cheaper
"There's basically three components to the American dream. A house near great job opportunities, great health care for you and your family, and sending your kids to good schools"
"If you disaggregate the economy over the last 25 years, everything that technology touches basically collapses in price. Television sets, computer games, anything with electronics in it. But if you chart housing, education, and health care, the prices of those things are skyrocketing"
"The government restricts supply, zoning laws and university certifications. And then the government responds to the political pressure caused by the rising prices by subsidizing demand. And of course, if you subsidize demand and a fixed supply, you get skyrocketing prices"

So let me get this straight.....
I pay $23 to get into the Indiana State Museum.
A welfare recipient pays $5 through the Access Pass.
I’m already helping fund the welfare system with my taxes, and now they get a 78% discount while I pay full price?
Apparently, being a taxpayer means funding the welfare AND getting screwed at the door.

You see, in India, it is normal to “do your business” in public.
Thank you for being inclusive to the Indian community Colin!

It gets WAY worse
This residency program at Parkview Health has 47 physicians across PGY-1, PGY-2, and PGY-3
PGY-1 = 1st year of residency (“intern year”)
PGY-2 = 2nd year of residency
PGY-3 = 3rd year of residency
ONLY 12 students attended U.S. medical schools
The other 35 trained in:
-Pakistan (16)
-Caribbean(5)
-India(4)
-Sudan (3)
-Nepal (2)
-Bangladesh (2)
-Syria (1)
-Russia (1)
-Turkey (1)
That means roughly 3 out of every 4 residents are international medical graduates.
As @AndrewIrelandIN said
"America should do whatever it takes to recruit and train Americans for these critical jobs not rely on imported labor"

So you underwrote to a 4% exit cap rate, 5% annual rent growth, didn’t account for a tax reassessment and you painted everything gray?
All with other people’s money?
Sitting down?
1970 - USA
White Population: 88%
Immigrant Households on Welfare: 6%
2020 - USA
White Population: 62%
Immigrant Households on Welfare: 59%
Today - USA
White Population: 56%
Immigrant Households on Welfare: 61%
But don’t complain about it because that’s racist.

Holy shit where has CJ Gardner-Johnson been all my life?
Q- "What do you think about the gams Rousseau had
CGJG- "They spent a lot of money on this side of the ball. It's time to go earn our god damn money"
C.J. Gardner-Johnson pulled an iPad out of his locker to cite a Bible verse when asked about what it meant to beat the Texans in his Houston return. And Gardner-Johnson was just getting started. "Everybody look at me to go out and be this rah-rah, give you all bulletin board all week. I don't say squat till we got out there. See you on Sunday. I will be the best football player on the field. Which I probably was. Who cares?
"Kept the ball in front of me. Kept my teammates lined up. I feel like giving myself over to God and changing the picture and image of my life, all that other shit don't matter anymore."
