The Restorative Artist-my debut novel-is coming September 2026. It’s a contemporary gothic that dissects memory and grief. An accomplished mortician haunted by the death of his first love pulls apart his relationships and funeral home in an attempt to escape the pain of loss.

Touch grass. Now touch bronze. Now touch the altar. Now make the sacrifice. Now carve the sacred glyphs into the bone. Now heat the pyromancy rods

The origin of 'nonbinary' is a fascinating debate, but it definitely predates tumblr. This is a photo of a member of the Skoptsy, a Russian sect that formed in 1772. They believed rejecting gender physically and mentally would contribute to the group's cohesion and protect them from plague.
"Nonbinary" was invented on tumblr in 2014.

Never forget when they knock on your door and ask “have you seen them?” You can answer “I don’t know, sorry I can’t help you,” bc the premise of the question is a lie. They are actually asking; “can I harm this person?” and you’re cooperation determines if they can.

The lives of queer people, past and present, are just a boutique little thing to them. To shelve and put away if the money says it's not interested anymore. You can't reason with it, and to assimilate is to become a tooth in the maw eating everyone just like you.
the smithsonian removed the queer content in the artist statement displayed for this piece
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
While the Smithsonian installation is different from the original showings of the work, this change is due to The David Zwirner Gallery and the Felix Gonzales Torres Foundation and not the Smithsonian itself. See: x.com/40th_Parallel_…

Anyone out there have recs for books or zines about grief and/or the body in pain and illness? Looking for radical, painful or challenging, not soothing. Body horror, thanatopolotics, queer lit, posthuman, weird more than welcome. #booktwt #indielit #transgressivelit — thoughts?

Might put my whole life in the bin and commit myself to studying radical biomechatronics.

Anyway, writing about the radical empathy of chronic pain and the romance of the scalpel.
