The horse carriage industry is coming to an end in New York City. Our administration will make sure workers and owners are protected and the horses are safe.

Happy Italian Heritage Month, New York. Here’s continuing to fight for Vito Marcantonio’s vision of a government that works for all working people.

This from Zohran is excellent. And efficiency is a good socialist value. Badly run programs burn state money that could've served better ends. Capitalism wastes resources/time too (health insurance middle men, cheap labor sweated out around the world).

📸 @ricardostuckert

Apparently somebody in NY is texting a whole bunch of people in NY pretending to be me. FYI it's not me.

Mayor Mamdani and the City Council have named 7 appointees to create a new "NYC Land Bank" The land bank is part of a plan to scrap NYC's controversial tax lien sale It could have the power to acquire tax/water debt, make payment plans with owners, and take some properties

New Yorkers should know whether the apartment they’re looking at is real. That’s why we’re working to require apartment listings to clearly disclose when images and videos have been generated by AI. Finding a home in New York is hard enough without artificially generating more problems. nytimes.com/2026/09/08/reale…

Important point. Additionally: NYC-DSA co-chairs stand for an election that our chapter's now nearly 16,000 members can vote in every year. The co-chairs do an enormous amount of (currently unpaid) work. People deserve to be paid a living wage for their work. It's not that deep.
TBH any other NYC political organization this influential would pay its leaders $120-245K. Each. It’s possible DSA has so many well-to-do folks in its higher ranks because no one else can afford to do the amount of unpaid labor involved. Think Vogue intern economics, but for the political sphere.

Disappointing nonsense from @GloriaPazmino and @cnn using a trusted news source to legitimize and platform racism.

Here are some quotes they elected not to include in the story to help you get a better sense of their sources:

1) “Mamdani hates America”

John Mangin is uniquely qualified to lead the Board of Standards and Appeals at a moment when New York must build the housing our city needs. For more than a decade, John has been a thoughtful, principled public servant who reshaped how New York approaches housing. Long before it became conventional wisdom, he understood that tackling our affordability crisis means building more homes so working people can afford to stay in the neighborhoods they love. Much of that work happened behind the scenes, but its impact has been felt across all five boroughs. That is exactly the kind of leader we need at the Board of Standards and Appeals -- someone who understands government's responsibility to dramatically increase our housing stock and to do so more equitably across the city. Our administration has been working closely with our partners in the City Council to ensure they understand Mangin's record and the importance of this appointment in building a more affordable New York.
New: Mamdani’s pick for a key housing post faces a rocky road to City Council confirmation. Council members, including some progressives, are uneasy about how the process has played out and concerned about the pick's views on development & homeownership. politico.com/newsletters/new…

Mayor Mamdani handed out some tenant organizing fliers in Urdu last week, with a famous early 1940s Faiz Ahmed Faiz poem on the back. “Speak, for your lips are still free. Speak, for truth is still alive. Speak, say whatever you have to say!”

I'm honored to be joining the Economic Development Corporation's board of directors as chair. Look forward to helping ensure EDC is making our city materially better for working people.
Affordability doesn't come from just decreasing costs, but increasing opportunity for working people. The city's Economic Development Corporation is at the heart of this work. Today, I proudly appointed Tony Shorris as President and CEO and Lina Khan as Chair of the EDC. From delivering paid parental leave to creating one of the most ambitious housing plans in city history, Tony knows what it means to fight for economic justice and economic development in the same breath. Meanwhile, Lina Khan has been a leader in the movement for an economy built by all, in service of all. From courtrooms to classrooms to the federal government, she has taught millions that dignity for working people is not only possible, it's demanded of us. These two leaders will steer the EDC's efforts to enact our affordability agenda — from city-owned grocery stores to thousands of units of affordable housing — all while making sure New York City remains a hub for excellence in business and innovation.
