Local leaders are actively engaging with their residents about data center deveopment and together they are figuring our the right decision for their community. Through the NLC Data Center Local Action Tracker local governments can research and find the right policy solutions
Local governments across the country are responding to rapid growth in data center development. Cities, towns and counties are adopting zoning standards, negotiating development agreements, reviewing infrastructure impacts, establishing moratoria and taking other actions to shape how data centers are proposed, approved and operated. NLC’s Data Center Local Action Tracker documents publicly available examples of these actions, helping local leaders, staff, researchers and community partners understand emerging policy approaches and compare responses across the country. nlc.org/resource/data-center…

I’ve seen firsthand how much local leaders can accomplish when they bring their experience, ideas and voices to the table. Serving in an NLC leadership role is one of the best ways to expand impact beyond your own community and help shape the future of local government nationally

The landmark 21st Century #ROADtoHousing Act is now law, and it’s a perfect time to discover or revisit NLC’s Housing Supply Accelerator Fact Sheet Series. With a housing supply shortage of almost 4 million units in the United States, this series explores solutions in three critical areas: construction and development, land use and regulations, and finance. nlc.org/resource/housing-sup…

NLC has long advocated for Congress and administrations to recognize and increase federal support for local governments’ efforts to improve housing attainability and affordability in cities, towns and villages. This week is the Week of the Young Child, but early childhood is always top of mind at NLC! For decades, NLC has been connecting local leaders to trusted early childhood resources and peer groups, because investing in young children is essential to building strong, resilient communities. Municipal leaders play a critical role in shaping environments where young children and their families, and the early childhood workforce, can thrive. When cities prioritize investments in the earliest years, they’re making a strategic choice that supports healthy development, strengthens future learning and drives long-term success.

I was heartbroken to learn of the passing of Nancy Metayer, Vice Mayor, Coral Springs, FL. She will forever be remembered as an exemplary leader in her community and with NLCs. She improved the lives of so many people who were fortunate to know her.
