Apparently, recalls are only acceptable when George Fuller supports them. When Fuller was mayor, he supported an effort to recall a fellow McKinney councilman. Now that citizens are exercising that same right against council members he supports, he’s warning petition signers that their names and addresses will be made public, that “businesses are watching“ and that they should be prepared to face “consequences“. Let’s be clear: petitioning your government is a first amendment right. Disagree with the recall. Defend the council members. Make your case. But using your position or platform to make citizens think twice about exercising a constitutional right because they may be publicly exposed or face “consequences?” Mayor Fuller, you should know better.
