The daily incidents of violent crimes are rampant in South Africa. This incident of violent attacks has placed the country in a bad light in the global ranking of violent countries. Not only has this fact not changed, but it has worsened with recent incidents occasioned by the COVID-19 lockdown. From its description as the world’s ‘murder capital’ and rape capital due to the prevalence of criminal activities, criminal violence in South Africa has grown in intensity. This paper argued that the scourge of criminal violence in South Africa is, partly, a manifestation of a dysfunctional social system that has entrenched the culture of violence as an instrument of interaction in a society characterised by individualistic instinct and consciousness. Exacerbated by the lived experiential traits imbued with wickedness, violent criminal activities have created a society living in fear of instant death and degradation. The research used an interpretivism method from several South African studies, including the culture of violence, criminal violence, and the justice system, to discuss the criminal justice system. This paper submits that a deliberate and conscientious approach, through a reformed criminal justice system as well as societal re-orientation, would be necessary to recalibrate the subconsciousness of citizens to be attuned to the appropriate social order stimulated by responsive and responsible governance structures. journals.co.za/doi/10.51415/…

National Traffic Police (NTP) officers deployed in Musina arrested the driver of a Toyota LDV for failing to display both vehicle registration number plates and for defeating the ends of justice. The driver initially claimed that the number plates had been stolen. However, upon conducting a search of the vehicle, officers discovered that both number plates had been deliberately hidden inside the vehicle. The suspect was subsequently detained at Musina SAPS and will face the relevant charges. Acting Director Aphane commended the officers for their excellent work and vigilance. He emphasized that vehicles operating without registration plates are often used in the commission of crimes and reckless driving on public roads, making such enforcement actions critical to ensuring road safety and supporting crime prevention efforts. Members of the public who may have witnessed any criminal activity involving this vehicle are encouraged to contact Musina SAPS and provide any information that may assist with investigations.

Two bogus doctors have been arrested over the sale of sick notes in KwaMashu. Preliminary information suggests the syndicate has been operational for at least a decade. On Monday, members of the SAPS Economic Infrastructure Task Team set a trap for the pair. It was discovered that a one-day sick note cost R100 while a three-day version cost R150. Several replicated doctor’s notes were found on the premises at the Ithala Shopping Centre. The names listed on the documents are real doctors, who allegedly suffered damages amounting to millions as a result of the scam. The arrested men face charges of fraud and forgery and are due in court soon. @eNCA

‼️POLICE FORENSIC CRISIS‼️The law is clear. Under the Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, read with Schedule 8 of the Criminal Procedure Act, arrested and charged Schedule 8 suspects, and relevant convicted offenders, must have buccal swabs taken for DNA purposes. This is why every SAPS station must have DB kits available. These kits are not admin. They help populate the National Forensic DNA Database, identify suspects, link repeat offenders to other crimes, and strengthen cases for prosecution. When SAPS does not have these basics on hand, victims lose, detectives lose, and dangerous offenders may remain unidentified. Some stations have already completely run out and others are about to. IC

The behavior of South Africans here in RSA attracts criminals from all over the world to come and join us. South Africa is fertile land for aspiring criminals because we are corrupt from top to bottom and side ways. This is gangsters paradise. Let us examine our behavior and clean house, we are not innocent in all of this. Corruption-accused Judge Portia Phahlane to face tribunal | GroundUp Suspended Gauteng High Court Judge Portia Phahlane, who is facing charges of corruption for allegedly accepting more than R2-million in bribes from a litigant, will have to explain herself before a Judicial Conduct Tribunal. No matter the outcome of the criminal case against her, a tribunal could still recommend that she be impeached. Judge’s Matter researcher Mbekezeli Benjamin explained that the judicial misconduct system exists to safeguard the judiciary, its integrity, independence and public trust. “The question before the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and its substructures is whether a judge has committed an act of misconduct so gross that it threatens any of these.” A judge could be acquitted of a crime in a criminal court, but still be found guilty of gross misconduct and be impeached by the JSC “because the nature of the conduct that gave rise to the crime is such that it falls below judicial standards, which are much higher and more exacting,” said Benjamin. share.google/dn5mcARmsWuzarb…
