Damascus has finally issued a - carefully worded - statement on growing reports of Syrian military support for Saudi Arabia, while leaving the door open to joining the Mecca Pact. The only clear denial concerns sending personnel to Yemen. But even sending advisers to Saudi Arabia would mark a significant shift from Sharaa's earlier non-alignment stance. The move could however be seen as reciprocity toward Riyadh - a major backer of Syria's recovery & key player in the US sanctions relief in 2025. The $403 million in loans announced days ago further underline Riyadh's role as an indispensable reconstruction partner for Damascus - while Saudi Arabia is under real security pressure of its own. In return, Syria may be offering something Saudi Arabia needs: experienced advisers - and this might well be where things are heading.

The son of a former IRGC commander admits the regime squandered over $50 billion on its failed Syria project, failed on the nuclear front and held no one accountable. Hamzeh Rahim-Safavi is the son of Yahya Rahim-Safavi, the former IRGC commander-in-chief and longtime military adviser to the supreme leadership. His admissions tear through several of the regime’s most important propaganda narratives. Safavi stated plainly that the Islamic Republic was defeated in Syria. He also rejected the religious explanation used to justify the intervention, saying the project was not primarily ideological or religious but a strategic attempt to reach the Mediterranean through military power, economic networks and proxy forces. For years, Iranians were told that their money and soldiers were being sacrificed to “defend the shrines.” Safavi has now admitted that this religious language concealed a geopolitical power project designed to establish a land corridor, sustain Hezbollah and expand the Islamic Republic’s regional influence. That project collapsed with Assad. Estimates indicate that the Islamic Republic spent between $30 billion and more than $50 billion supporting Assad. The money financed oil shipments, credit lines, military equipment, IRGC operations and foreign proxy forces from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Lebanon. Much of that investment is now effectively unrecoverable. The land corridor to the Mediterranean has been severed, supply routes to Hezbollah have been weakened and the economic agreements intended to recover Iran’s investment have largely collapsed. Safavi’s most damaging question was not simply why Syria was lost. It was why nobody was held responsible. He said that if he caused even minor financial damage at the University of Tehran, he would be required to repay it. Yet the regime spent tens of billions of dollars on a failed foreign intervention without identifying a single official responsible for the defeat. That is not an administrative oversight. It is how the Islamic Republic is designed. The IRGC can gamble the wealth of the Iranian people on foreign wars, proxies and ideological projects without parliamentary control, independent auditing or consequences when those projects collapse. Iranians absorb the inflation, sanctions and lost development while the architects of failure retain their power and receive new positions. Safavi delivered an equally devastating assessment of the nuclear strategy. After 20 to 30 years, the Islamic Republic has neither built a bomb nor secured the economic and diplomatic benefits available to a country complying with the international nuclear system. Instead, the regime imposed decades of sanctions, isolation, economic damage and military danger on the Iranian people without delivering the security it promised. Its nuclear threshold strategy achieved the worst of both outcomes. Iran paid the economic and geopolitical costs of being treated as a nuclear proliferator while remaining vulnerable to attacks on its leadership, military infrastructure and nuclear facilities. Billions more were consumed building enrichment facilities, underground complexes and an expansive security apparatus. The result was not deterrence. It was deeper isolation, repeated sabotage and a permanent threat of wider war. Once again, nobody was held accountable. Safavi then turned to the intelligence apparatus itself. He said the intelligence system was not merely failing but effectively “shut down.” He pointed to repeated assassinations, penetrations and precision strikes while asking why nobody had been dismissed, prosecuted or even publicly identified as responsible. This admission reaches the centre of the regime’s vulnerability. The Islamic Republic built one of the region’s most intrusive surveillance systems to monitor Iranian women, students, workers and dissidents. Yet that same security state repeatedly failed to protect senior commanders, nuclear personnel and sensitive military infrastructure. It is powerful against unarmed Iranians and dangerously penetrated against foreign intelligence services. Safavi also warned that the regime now faces the possibility of mass leadership targeting, the destruction of deep missile infrastructure and a nightmare scenario in which external war coincides with another nationwide uprising. His warnings reveal how dramatically the internal assessment differs from official propaganda. State media continues promising victory and deterrence while insiders describe defeat, intelligence collapse and existential vulnerability. The record is devastating. The Syrian project collapsed. An estimated $50 billion was lost. The nuclear strategy produced isolation without security. The intelligence apparatus failed to protect the leadership. No senior official was held accountable for any of it. The Islamic Republic calls this resistance. Its own insiders are beginning to call it what it is. Strategic failure without accountability.

120 al-Qaeda militants bodies is what I see after checking it twice. While falling short of initial claims from three weeks ago, it's still something of different scale. Keep in mind, they are simultaneously waging war on five states in the Sahel, while killing each other.
Islamic State has just sent the single largest photoset I've seen in many years, with them showing the corpses of al-Qaeda members killed in the ongoing jihadi civil war in Oudalan, Burkina Faso. I willl count them later, but the numbers are certainly huge.

A private geospatial intelligence firm said it examined 40 missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen and militias in Iraq between July 1 and Oct. 19. In every case, the firm found the same pattern of Russian government and military satellites orbiting above the areas for days before and after. apnews.com/article/russia-ir…

Jordanian Army announced the launch of "Jordanian Deterrence" Operation, carrying out airstrikes in #Daraa province - under Government control - in response to the recent terrorist attack on a Church in Jordan (10 killed). Multiple locations were bombed in the Southern and Eastern countryside, but so far the targets & potential casualties remain unknown. This is an unprecedented situation. jaf.mil.jo/NewsViewen.aspx?N…
Breaking. #Daraa countryside, close to the Jordanian border, was targeted by airstrikes. Attacks are believed to be carried out by Jordanian Air Force, which would be a first since Assad's fall.

Tom Barrack going nuclear on Hijri. Known for his outspokenness, he's the first US official at this level to acknowledge Hijri's links to the international Captagon trafficking. Hijri-held #Suwayda was bombed by Jordan in May & airstrikes targeted both manufacturing & storage facilities. This last area outside Damascus' control, protected by Israel & still hosting a significant number of former Regime elements, is a key hub for smuggling Captagon into Jordan & subsequently to the Gulf. Since July 2025, these cartels launched 100s of Captagon-loaded balloons across the Jordanian border, making it the main smuggling methods - much safer than sending smugglers across the border like under Assad. One detail often overlooked: Hijri also collaborates with Hezbollah-linked cartels in Lebanon, from which he obtains some supplies, such as chemical precursors & guided balloons.
U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack on Syria: The Druze can arm themselves with the money that they're making from the Captagon trade. This Captagon is something, and it's like manufacturing meth. So Syria has been very cautious. It knows that if it bites on one of these incursions, the fire is going to explode. So it's been very patient in allowing Israel to protect its "buffer zone" by coming across and having the Druze conduct themselves inappropriately. To the extent that this Sheikh is intimating to people that he has the U.S. backing, it's absolutely wrong. Source: @MarioNawfal

Good morning. -the Karak Christian church attackers are still at large as of this moment -another person died after succumbing to wounds, 8 killed and 40 wounded for now. -Jordan sends army to malls, embassies and key locations of tourist value. Not looking good.
There are four attackers, still at large, and arrived to the church with a pickup truck, one had semi-auto weapon. I suspect a siege is coming, unless Jordanians fck this up completely and the cell somehow evades the manhunt. But then questions will be absolutely damning.

Iran is losing land trade routes to American pressure, as both Iraq and Pakistan shut key border crossings: "The Pakistani closures have stranded more than 4,500 metric tons of bottled gas—one of Tehran's last energy exports—on the Iranian side of the border." It has other borders, but they were already struggling to deal with higher volume: last month there were 17,000 trucks waiting to cross, with delays stretching up to three weeks wsj.com/world/middle-east/ir…

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

One of the biggest massacres in recent years may have occured these past two days, with Islamic State going as far as briefly invading Menaka city to try and annihilate people connected to MSA Tuareg leadership. Estimates 150-200 dead of just civilians. Grim is an understatement.
It seems that around Menaka, Tuaregs loyal to Mali regime somehow poked the Islamic State to the extent the backlash is brutal and Bamako conducted multiple airstrikes in defense. Jihadists' retaliation was massive, but casualties need to be confirmed.

Today, the IRGC Navy used an anti-ship cruise missile to target the engine room of another oil tanker passing through the southern Strait of Hormuz without authorisation from Iran’s Islamic regime. However, the IRGC Navy is now falsely claiming that the tanker struck a naval mine it had laid. The vessel was clearly targeted with an anti-ship cruise missile. This footage of the tanker was recorded by IRGC-linked local fishers in the Strait of Hormuz.
