Here’s the thing about “Keep theaters alive!” and “Go watch this film in the movie theater!”
It’s a two-way agreement.
The audience agrees to pay to see films in a theater only if:
- The filmmakers are shooting scripts that have a thesis statement/intention/point.
- The actors and director are giving it their all, and not phoning it in.
- The edit has trimmed off all the fat.
- The film isn’t some didactic exercise, intent on jamming a “lesson” into us.
- The studio executives have paid close attention to the film from start to finish and have given the filmmakers useful notes to keep it all on-track.
- The film is entertaining.
- (And the theater managers are maintaining some order and decorum in the theaters themselves.)
Otherwise, the audiences will continue to stay home and wait for the films to come online, so they can maybe watch five minutes of it or scrub through, and then turn it off.
The film has to be excellent. Or at least try in that direction.
Much of what is released is just not good enough.

This network went up while nobody was looking, and the only rules governing it were written by the company selling it.

And I slept like a baby after doing it.
Check out was 10:00 AM.
I stripped the bed, ran the dishwasher, took the trash out to the dumpster, and locked the key in the lockbox.
At 1:15 PM, my phone buzzed with an app alert.
$450 extra charge request.
Host’s note: "Property left in severe condition. Rug ruined, food left everywhere. Deep clean required."
I messaged her on the app:
"I stayed solo for two nights and cleaned before leaving.

Over a decade ago, I looked outside my window, and I thought there was some weird animal outside beside my house.
He was so starving his ribs were showing, had no fur, and about 500 ticks on him.
I don’t know how old Pedro is now my guess is 15 to 17 years old. He walks slow and his back legs shake.
I know his days are numbered, but I’ve loved him and tried to give him the most amazing life.
Every day when I wake up, I pray that he’s still with me.
He’s the best dog I’ve ever had. And I love him more than I can say.
He’s a gift from God.
