It’s so obvious when people rarely watch documentaries, and when they do, it’s something on the news.

I cannot articulate why it feels fascist to destroy the art of documentary filmmaking. Another institution that kinda wasn’t a problem. Partially think it should’ve been a reality show??

The whole point of art, in fact the point of engaging with another person's thoughts in any capacity, is to expand your very limited individual perspective on the world, not to live in a tiny box perfectly catered to your adolescent personal tastes

We now have a post-canon culture, which means the public have no interest in reading or watching that which is great, but every interest in insisting that the current commercial IP is just as good as all the classics they scorn. Baby stamping on a human face, forever

“Effort pulls you of the story” is a despicable, anti-prose, content-over-form mentality I see all the time on this app

i had to look it up and it’s even more annoying. why are we allergic to any kind of challenge and need to write in nursery rhymes. how does this person have an MA and act like the language is inseparable from the “story” & meaning.

Will that Dakota Johnson clip lead to Darren Aronofsky’s career imploding, like it did for Ellen DeGeneres? Probably not, but it’d be funny if it did.

Some weird stories in the replies to this thread. America is a dystopia.
I used to do this to wind down in the evenings, and they installed outdoor LED flood lights and started a sheriff patrol on my route within a year.

The problem is that leftists pride themselves on not just being inclusive, but being extra inclusive towards people who are excluded elsewhere. The problem is that lots of those people are excluded elsewhere because they’re genuinely terrible people.

We moved on way too quickly from the fact that Charlie Kirk’s last words were racist dog whistling that both downplayed gun violence in America as well as blamed it on Black people and then he was immediately sniped tf out by some white dude

me encantaría saber qué pasa por la cabeza de la gente que se pone a escuchar música o mirar una serie sin auriculares en el transporte público. no tienen algún tipo de filtro que sugiera que están siendo unos maleducados de mierda?

You basically should be driven entirely by whim. You should buy six books on Taoism in one day and read three of them before getting really into loop quantum gravity for a few weeks. You should know a little bit about a completely incomprehensible assemblage of subjects
With mass literacy under attack, I worry that the drive to learn new things is dying with it. I don’t want to live in a world where people’s interests are determined solely by algorithms. Read widely, explore libraries, eagerly seek out music, books & films you’d never heard of.

Walk into any bookshop in Vietnam and it’s all Jobs and Musk books and grindset garbage.
It’s Vietnam’s national high school exam season. One essay question in literature praised Elon Musk, Steven & Mark Zuckerberg as ‘technological innovators’ and asked students to respond how a ‘Vietnamese Steve Jobs’ can be made. Such primitive worship for oligarchy & capitalism.
