You may have heard about the Hope Florida Investigation and are unsure of what it means. Here is a breakdown: In a leaked report, a Florida grand jury describes what happened to $10 million that should've gone back to the Florida Healthy Kids Program that helps insure low-income children. They remained uninsured. The money was diverted to a state charity and quickly transferred to a political operation and the Republican Party of Florida. A 2024 ballot measure was defeated using that money. Casey DeSantis, James Uthmeier, Ashley Moody, and Ron DeSantis were never called to testify. No one was was criminally charged because the report says they did not have enough evidence and no one would take responsibility for the diversion of funds. James Uthmeier, now Florida's Attorney General, is the person the grand jury's report points to as having directed the money. The people who directed and approved the transfers got promoted, not held accountable. Multiple people named in the report have reportedly been blocking its release. DeSantis called it "a hoax" hours before the report leaked Uthmeier and Moody are both on your ballot in November.
