Presenting my updated director showreel for 2020! Includes clips from @OfficerDownFilm, @doorway2017 & @judasghostmovie, for details on all those films & more you can check out my new website simon-pearce.co.uk - thanks to @ConceptOrigUK for the upgrade!
Superb finale to #Lanterns - will happily continue to watch Aaron Pierre in this role, absolutely commands the screen. Great work by Kelly Macdonald too.
#OneLastShot was a great conclusion to the trilogy, some superb action and @mrjamesnunn & @TheScottAdkins continue to be endlessly inventive with the format. Love how they chart the on-going physical toll on Harris.
Loved #Hope - gorgeous widescreen location work and some truly exhilarating action/chase photography! 🙌 Also, Officer Yim please marry me
Very sad to hear this, 2 was great, I just hope 3 gets a conclusive ending and the characters can go on to appear in other MCU projects 🙏 Come on Spidey 5…
‘DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN’ will officially end with Season 3.

Really enjoyed #ResidentEvil - Austin Abrams is great, lots of tense setpieces and surprisingly funny too. The whole “normie dumped in the game” approach really works and there’s a lot of fun Easter eggs along the way
Enjoyed the first season of #Neagley - Maria Sten is great (and has a great on-screen run!), a very likable supporting cast with an emotional & satisfying finale. Would happily see more!
#Runner was very entertaining - Ritchson is great as ever, good chemistry with Wilson, nice emotional backbone to it and some surprisingly visceral action beats
Loved #TheForbiddenCity - Beautifully directed, great fights, and an endearing romance at its heart. Plus Liu Yaxi is brilliant, crazy she’s only been in two films to date.
Some lovely fights and action beats in #Mutiny - but such generic writing and everything around the action is bizarrely flat and lifeless. Shame, as I loved Plane.
Another cracking start to #Reacher - this show puts such a smile on my face and Ritchson plays it brilliantly 👌
A real pleasure to meet all-timer Bond @PatrickGibson00 at @MCMComicCon yesterday. Lovely to chat too and he has truly set the bar for whoever Amazon casts. Fingers crossed First Light was only his part 1 🤞
New wall art is up 😍 Now @LionsgateUK if you could just sort us out with a lovely 4K release please…
Loved #SpiderManBrandNewDay - brilliantly tackles the emotional fallout from 3, a great villain, and a great use of Castle & Banner (such a joy to see him with the Punisher). I hope Tom Holland continues to wear the mask for a while to come 🙌 Spidey content for the win again 🕷️
Totally agree with this - it’s a tough one as I fully understand how it saves on cost/time, but there’s no replacing the visceral impact of the real thing. Think you just need to be careful about how/when you use them.
They’re safer and cheaper than squibs and pyrotechnics, but there are limitations to digital gore and bullet hits, Ryan writes.

Oh man - how have I only just discovered the work of Qin Pingfei?? 100% my new director to watch. In the last couple of weeks seen #FightAgainstEvil2 and now #BlackStorm - that lift fight! 😮 I need the rest of his filmography immediately. Love the way he shoots action!
Well up for this, but it does make me smile that Hollywoods go-to response these days to any foreign action director seems to be - “get him a Derek kolstad script and an unconventional lead, quick!”
Scoop via @miagaluppo: Hong Kong action movie THE FURIOUS is one of the most acclaimed genre movies of the year. Now, its director, Kenji Tanigaki, will make his studio/English language debut with THE RECKONER, teaming up Peter Dinklage & Derek Kolstad (JOHN WICK). hollywoodreporter.com/movies…
#TheFurious was absolutely incredible. Breathtaking choreography, emotionally gripping, Xie Miao such a powerful & bad-ass protagonist, plus a really moving partnership with @Joe_Taslim. My adrenaline is still going. Can’t conceive how they did half of it. Already booked round 2!
