"We dismiss BMI—despite its 98% concordance with DEXA.
We avoid the concept of energy balance—despite knowing appetite isn’t a choice.
We blame thyroid, sleep, menopause—despite their limited role.
Why?
Because it feels like blame.
And blame feels like failure.
But here’s the truth: Obesity is not about blame.
It’s time to move beyond oversimplifications—and toward compassion, science, and nuance."
