Our findings support the booster immunisation programmes implemented in several European countries, that advised the use of #BA1/ancestral #mRNA #bivalent booster doses in individuals at high risk of severe #COVID19

So pleased this one is out: medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Multiplex panel tests have an inherent uncertainty that is typically ignored when calculating prevalence, and develop methods to fix it. w @rjchallen @adamhfinn @cathyams @AChatzilena @KrasiTsaneva
Understanding protection from #COVID19 boosters against #SARSCoV2 infection is a priority. We compared protection against hospitalisation in 2022 UK booster campaigns: original monovalent mRNA vaccine vs bivalent mRNA booster

This work from AvonCAP couldn't be done without the amazing @ResearchNBT @uhbwNHS #NHS & research team, working collaboratively with @BristolUni, @UKHSA & academics
What effect does ABO & Rhesus status have on outcomes with respiratory infection?
Read the paper from @alice_ahalliday and @AshToye_Bristol and AvonCAP, @BristolARU and @BristolUni to find out!
onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
We found blood group A and Rh neg patients were over represented in respiratory infection.
ABO group didn't influence cardiovascular complication risk; but, RhD-positive pneumonia patient had reduced risk of cardiovascular complications
@leondanon @rjchallen @BristolUncover
This analysis provides evidence blood group status may influence outcome of respiratory infection: group A have increased risk of hospitalisation & RhD-positive patients having reduced cardiovascular complications.

Super excited!! Our paper on #pneumococcal #serotypes was accepted in @EIDjournal More like unbelievably excited... Keeping calm... Obviously not

Rishi Sunak said today at #PMQs that rising NHS waiting lists is down to industrial action.
Well how about the last 13 years of rising waiting lists?
Are #COPD #exacerbations due to #SARSCoV2 more severe than those due to other infections or non-infectious causes?
Our latest paper in @EditorJRSM tries to address this question.

We also found a 9.8% 30-day mortality rate among non #SARSCoV2 #COPD patients, highlighting the burden of #COPD during the #COVID19 #pandemic. #COPD COPD exacerbation-related morbidity and mortality remain substantial, and there's much work to do.

As always, this important work cannot be undertaken without the fantastic #NHS and @UKHSA, and the people who collaborate to deliver #research that we hope makes #meaningful change

Before vaccines, diseases such as meningitis, tetanus, measles, diphtheria and polio killed or disabled many children and young people.
Effective vaccines massively reduced these risks.
Please take up NHS recommended vaccines- they protect children, young people and families.
Today is the start of #WorldImmunisationWeek
This @UKHSA blog looks at the free NHS vaccination programme and how vaccinations protect our children throughout their lives ➡️
