The Vikings loved giving cats as wedding gifts. Not only were they thought to be invaluable to brides setting up their new homes, but they were also sacred to Freya, the #Norse goddess of love, whose chariot was pulled by two giant cats. #FolkloreSunday #FairyTaleTuesday

In typical fashion, the tribal pile-on continues over my post from this morning. Honestly, the outraged justifications say far more about the critics than they do about Jacqui Lambie.
People are losing their minds because she launched a merchandise collection to raise funds for the Hudson Institute of Medical Research and Monash Health. It might not be to everyone's taste, but she is intentionally using shock value to smash a multi-billion-dollar silence around women's physical injuries.
Her bold approach shifts pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and birth trauma out of the shadows and directly onto the legislative floor where funding is decided. According to her network and supporting medical bodies, this is about dismantling a stigma that forces women to suffer in silence.
Consider this:
โข1 in 4 Australian women are affected by pelvic organ
prolapse.
โขIt can go entirely undetected for years after childbirth.
โขThere is currently no reliable cure, which is why the
Hudson Institute is desperately working to develop
safe, effective treatments.
Professor Anna Rosamilia, a leading urogynaecologist and head of the Pelvic Floor Unit at Monash Health, explicitly praised Lambie:
Broad Advocacy Support
Beyond direct clinical institutions, the push to normalize the language of the campaign has been strongly defended by medical-adjacent and healthcare advocacy groups:
WOMEN VETERANS AUSTRALIA: Clinicians and advocates within veteran support frameworks have unified behind Lambie. They have pointed to her campaign to prove how the current Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) system fails to properly treat physical birth injuries and reproductive health needs sustained by female service members.
THE OLDER WOMENโs NETWORK (OWN NSW): Healthcare and aging advocacy groups have pointed out that roughly half of all women who give birth suffer some degree of prolapse, yet medical misogyny keeps the topic underreported. They praised her courage for naming the condition out loud on the parliamentary floor to change how the system allocates research grants.
But I highly doubt the facts or the legitimacy of the campaign will appease the outrage mobs on here.
WHY DO THEY DO THINGS LIKE THIS???
There are plenty of things in politics that are fair game for satire, ridicule & political cartoons. But when it becomes deeply personal, particularly involving someoneโs health, Iโm afraid it needs to be called out.
Jacqui Lambie has hit back at Pauline Hanson after a One Nation cartoon mocked Lambieโs medical condition.
In August, Lambie revealed she had suffered a vaginal & bladder prolapse, requiring surgery & five months away from parliament.
For women who experience this condition, it is no laughing matter. It can be physically debilitating, emotionally distressing & profoundly disruptive to their everyday lives.
One Nation has produced a series of satirical cartoons mocking politicians & political events. Thatโs politics. Satire has always had its place.
But the latest cartoon reportedly uses Lambieโs vaginal prolapse as a punchline.

You donโt have to like Lambie, agree with her politics or support anything she says to recognise that distinction.
And surely we can disagree politically without abandoning a little basic human decency.

BREAKING: 'How can French people do this to France?'
French President Emmanuel Macron has said the country is feeling 'anger and shame' over recent protests in the country.
Calling for peace, the president said 'nothing' justifies the riots and damage caused in multiple cities.

FRANCE โ WORDS WONโT REBUILD WHAT VIOLENCE HAS DESTROYED
Oh, Iโm sure President Macronโs words are immensely comforting to those left standing in the rubble of their businesses. To those watching historic buildings, which have survived generations and wars, being consumed by flames. And to the hundreds of police officers, firefighters and others injured in the violence.
No doubt a presidential address makes it all so much better.

More than 2,000 arrests. Over 600 emergency personnel injured. Businesses looted, livelihoods destroyed and public buildings attacked.
And for what?
There is a fundamental difference between peaceful protest and wanton, mindless destruction. Between expressing legitimate grievances and using those grievances as an excuse for violence, carnage and lawlessness.
NOTHING justifies this. No anger, no frustration, no political grievance. NOTHING.
Democracy provides the right to protest. It does not confer the right to destroy everything in your path.
And while politicians trade accusations over who is responsible, ordinary French citizens are left to pick up the pieces.
Macron says those responsible will pay for the damage.
The question is whether those words will translate into consequences. Because the people whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered deserve considerably more than another presidential address.

In 1996 the BBC put two large women on a motorbike and sidecar, sent them round Britain cooking with lard, cream and butter by the block, and twelve million people a week sat down to watch them refuse to apologise for it.
Jennifer Paterson was sixty-eight, a Catholic who had cooked for the staff of The Spectator and been sacked for throwing the crockery out of the window. Clarissa Dickson Wright was a barrister who had drunk her way through a fortune and come out the other side. Neither had been on television. Both had been told all their lives that the way they ate was going to kill them, and both had decided they would rather be fat and fed than thin and lied to.
If you watched it you remember the sound of it. Jennifer scraping an entire pack of butter into a pan while talking about the war. Clarissa holding up a lump of suet to the camera and saying the word with relish. Game pie, kidneys in cream, bacon fat poured over cabbage, a pudding made with a pound of dripping. They cooked for monks, for lifeboatmen, for the Women's Institute, in country-house kitchens with the Aga going.
And every episode had a moment where one of them turned to the lens and said what nobody else on television would. Low fat was a fraud. Margarine was a chemical. Vegetarianism was for people with something wrong with them. Clarissa said if God had not meant us to eat animals he would not have made them out of meat.
It went out in forty countries. The BBC had expected a curiosity and got the most watched cooking programme it had ever made.
Jennifer died in 1999, of lung cancer, with a tin of caviar on the bedside table that she had asked for. Clarissa went in 2014 at sixty-six, having spent her last years defending the butcher, the gamekeeper and the dairy farmer against a country that had forgotten what they were for.
They were never right about everything. They were right about the one thing the nation was being lied to about, and they said it with a sidecar and a block of butter in front of twelve million people at a time when every other cook on television was holding up a tub of spread.

This video is currently all over social media. Many are expressing sorrow for this woman and sadness at her outrage. My take on it is different. The look you see on her face is not outrageโฆitโs realisation. It is the look of a white, liberal lefty woman suddenly realising that her entire worldview is/was totally wrong. That what she had spent her life arrogantly portraying as her higher morality and understanding was in fact โsuicidal empathyโ as described by @GadSaad and that empathy was going to destroy her entire society.

This week a council approved a solar farm on two hundred and thirty-five acres of grazing, and the family who had run cattle on it for generations said it would probably finish them. The panels will be there for forty years. The cattle were there for four hundred.
The land is not the developer's. It belongs to an estate or a pension fund, and the developer offers a rent per acre no cow has ever earned. The farmer gets a letter. The council, told to triple solar by a minister who has never kept a beast, finds that the loss of a herd is not a planning consideration.
So the field goes under glass. In Britain a solar array produces for about one hour in nine. It makes most in June at noon, when the country needs it least, and nothing on a January evening, when it needs it most, so a gas station is kept idling behind every one. The panels are made in China from polysilicon out of a province the government will not name. They lose output every year they stand there, and at the end there is no plan and no bond for taking them away. A quarter of a million square metres of glass, aluminium and copper cable, in a field, with a thirty-year lease and a company that will not exist when it ends.
Under the panels the grass dies for want of light, the soil compacts under the plant, and the hedges go because the fence has to be electric and the fence has to be straight. The sheep in the brochure are for the photograph.
The cattle were a solar panel already. Grass takes the light, the cow converts it, and the output is beef, every day of the year, on no cable, no subsidy and no inverter, for as long as there is rain.
They have replaced a power station that makes dinner with one that works on a sunny afternoon and sits dead the rest of the time, and the family who ran the first one are being evicted to make room for the second.

The strange death of Europe. You either stand for Western civilisation or you're complicit in its destruction. Get off the fucking fence.
The only thing that will improve @AustralianLabor ratings is policy changes in areas they regard as "sacred" - or is that "scared"? I am - spending more will not help!

Limoges beautiful town hall lived through the devastation of war: in 1940, it became the capital of the Belgian govt in exile. During the German occupation of France, Limoges Town Hall became a stronghold & a key center of Resistance activity in the southern unoccupied zone.
And now it is engulfed in flames amid protests in France. It has stood for 143 years having been inaugurated in 1883. This is NOT revolution this is ignorant, mindless destruction.
