Great job by Tan y Gaer Shedderz!
Local Keith asked if we could help make poppy crosses to remember locals who died in the war.
They sanded them down and laser etched the letters on in their session today 馃槑
Well done!

Our double decker Sensory Bus project is well under way!
Young Shedderz have been making sensory boards for her - old Shedderz have been putting a new floor in her 馃榿
Support us by buying us a pack of floor tiles - we need lots!!!
Thank you!

There is a simple principle behind the new Investors in Families approach.
Don't recreate evidence that already exists.
Use the toolkit for guidance.
Send us your existing evidence.
We professionally review and map it against the Seven Core Aims.
Simple.

Brilliant work from Shedder from Tan y Gaer today!
This awesome sensory board - made from scratch with recycled boards and 3d printed fidgets, toys and cogs, will soon be mounted on the inside of the Double Decker Sensory Bus we are transforming!

The parents who volunteer are invaluable.
But they are not necessarily representative.
The loudest voices are still only some of the voices.
Good family engagement creates more ways to be heard.

We sometimes make family engagement too big.
Join the committee.
Become a governor.
Attend the forum.
Volunteer regularly.
What about:
Could you spend ten minutes telling us what you think of this?
Small asks can open doors that big invitations never will.
Gav Cass retweeted
Perhaps the best evidence of family engagement isn't something created for an assessor.
It is the work already happening every day.
The conversations.
The feedback.
The changes made.
The difference noticed.
Start with the practice. Not the paperwork.

The Seven Core Aims help us look at the whole picture learning, wellbeing, opportunity, voice, community and the barriers families may face.
At Investors they give us a shared framework for recognising what schools and settings are already doing and the difference it makes.

A good life is one in which things do not go perfectly, but you find a way to have a good day regardless.

Good accreditation should help you understand your practice.
Not create another administrative task.
So we have simplified Investors in Families.
You do the work with families.
We help you recognise the impact.
Gav Cass retweeted
Your newsletters are evidence.
Your family feedback is evidence.
Your policies, pupil voice, events, improvement plans and everyday practice are evidence.
You shouldn't have to recreate good work just to prove you are doing it.
Send us what you already have. We do the mapping.
Car packed and ready to take our daughter off to uni.
Not quite sure how we got here to be honest.
A bit sad, massively proud and excited for everything she鈥檚 got ahead of her.
Plenty of tears already.
It鈥檚 going to be a very strange drive home.

Good family engagement does not become better because somebody copied it into another form.
If the evidence already exists, use it.
Less paperwork. More partnership. More focus on impact.
That is why Investors in Families is changing.

Here's an uncomfortable thought.
The easiest families to engage can become the easiest families to listen to.
And eventually their voice can start sounding like the family voice.
It isn't.
Good engagement deliberately creates space for different voices.

The parents who turn up are important.
But they aren't necessarily representative.
Family engagement gets interesting when we start asking:
Who aren't we hearing from?
Not because they don't care.
Perhaps because we haven't created the right way for them to contribute.
