Do you remember when radio stations used to give away concert tickets and backstage passes? | just heard a midday radio giveaway, and now the prizes are groceries, a year of gas, or rent paid. It's a strange reminder that survival has become the prize. That's pretty sad.
Mamdani’s Halloween plans for NYC are fantastic 🎃
The city is opening a record 160 car-free streets and plazas across all five boroughs for free Halloween fun, with trick-or-treating, games, face painting, live entertainment and even neighborhood walking tours. NYC DOT is handing out 75,000 pieces of candy, and there’ll be events at public schools too.
Safe streets, happy kids and neighborhoods coming together. This is what it looks like when city government makes public spaces work for everyone. Great stuff for New York!
she is an obama/mamdani level political talent
As Republicans demonize @AngieNixon, and JD Vance tells her "you don't belong in America," they run the risk of having it backfire. Nixon can be a compelling figure. Here she is getting emotional when I asked her to tell voters something personal about herself. @CBSMiami

NAOMI KLIEIN to SAM ALTMAN:
"...you ingested the entire written output of human civilization without consent, without compensation and without credit to build a system whose primary commercial application is eliminating the jobs of the people whose work you consumed.
You are not 'liberating human creativity' -- you are strip-mining it and selling it back at a markup while calling the theft 'training data'."

Dont like cooking for dinner parties?

in person book club
movie night
poker night
whatever it is you do, invite people to join you doing it

As details about the Cornell 7 come out, it’s once again time to remember that less than 2% of rapists see jail time, which means: rape is effectively legal in America.

So this is what electing a democratic socialist mayor can get you: corporations issuing groveling apologies for underpaying their workers
Since 2023, more than 200,000 Dashers in New York City were underpaid or paid late under the City’s delivery worker pay rules. These errors were unintentional, but that doesn’t make them acceptable. Dashers should be paid in full, on time, every time. We take full responsibility, and we’re deeply sorry.
We’ve reached a $131.5 million settlement with the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. Every impacted Dasher will receive the amount they are owed, and they’ll be contacted directly with payment details.
We understand the impact of even one missed or late payment. We’ve addressed the issues that caused these errors and made changes to prevent them from happening again.
