📲 Linda is cooking for us tonight. A moment of hesitation. 📲 You're welcome to come sit in the kitchen with us while she does if you want. You can tell us about your audition
the fact he cares to ask about the role - it prompts a small smile to his face. > i didn't have anything in mind ! but we'll all find out our roles soon. > oh, okay. see you soon. ☺️ chewing on his lower lip. how to help, then . . . > do you need me to help with the cooking ?

Standing in the doorframe of his own bedroom, eyes squinting from the sleep. Just silently watching August for a moment. ... Is he not seeing him?
Replying to @ofthearts
okay, he's waited long enough. he's on the move again . . . creak, creak, creak. it's like he's breaking the stairs' back with his feet or something.

As he said he would, Berry pulls up to Blackwell Academy early afternoon to bring @ofthearts his contacts. He gives him a call to tell him he's here, waiting for him in the parking lot.

"Okay," he says with a sigh. Questioning whether this is really what happened or not wouldn't be of any use. This is not a talk for right now. "I can bring them in a couple hours, around lunchtime. Will you be okay until then?"
“i was moving around some theatre equipment, they fell off. and someone accidentally . . . yeah.” there's a quiet resignation to his voice. he already knows what his father believes. “sorry again,” comes a quiet mutter. “when you can, do you mind bringing them to school ?”

"Oh." He furrows his brows. August might as well said 'Someone broke my glasses', because this is what he heard. "How did that happen?"
he hates that sound. the heavy sound of worry in his father's voice; it causes a twisting feeling in his stomach, eyes closing for a second. “sorry for calling while you're at work,” he says, voice level and calm. “um, my glasses are broken and i left my contacts at home.”

When his phone rings, Andy is in a serious conversation with his colleagues about driving safety and roadkill. He wouldn't normally answer a personal call, but seeing August's name on the screen is enough for him to decide to make an exception. August wouldn't call unless --
sat by the tree where jaxon left him, vision blurred from the absence of glasses that now have been snapped in two, he scrolls down his contact list, squinting. then presses on @casecloscd's name, sighing heavily. he hates disturbing him when he's at work.

-- it was important. He excuses himself and goes into an empty office. "Hello?" Already, there's worry in his voice.

Andy watches him go, then looks toward the forest. The importance of what just happened begins to sink in. He's lost August's trust, and he can't think of what to do to make it up to him. But did he ever really have it to begin with? Considering what he's kept hidden --
the rejection he had spent so long anticipating . . . never comes. 'i'm glad you told me' -- if the circumstances had been different, if it had been any other day, that response, that acceptance, would have moved august and sent his arms around his dad in a hug. but he doesn't +

Something a little softer takes over Andy's features too; a light frown creating a crease between his brows. Did August think he wouldn't approve? That there was a chance it wouldn't go down well? This isn't exactly how he hoped August perceived him. But, on the other --
“. . . i wasn't.” there's the blunt truth coming out again, but his voice has softened somewhat. grown quieter. perhaps a hint of remorse is to be found there. he's also tired and it's beginning to sink in - from wandering the beach, the woods . . . from all the mental +

-- hand, he reminds himself how hard it is to be figuring yourself out at that age. Clearly, August has been going through a lot. And he didn't even notice. "Well, I'm glad that you told me anyway," is what he settles on saying, giving a nod. He exhales sharply, like --

"Six months?!" This time, Andy doesn't attempt to hide his surprise. He thinks back to the past few months. To how he's wondered about August's sexuality in the past, how he's wondered how long it would take August to introduce a potential partner if there was one. And now, --
he looks to the side, seeking reprieve from his gaze, arms crossed over his chest in a more defensive, protective stance. “six months ago,” comes his reply, unusually blunt.
