1/15 I've been getting a lot of questions since posting about @regentcraft's first flight:
- What is this thing?
- Why is this important?
- Havent we had seaplanes for years?
This is a *Seaglider* - its a modern take on a flying boat that is new & different in many ways!

Crazy traffic between LA and SD with the closing of I-5 for the wildfires tonight.
I'm spending 3 hours on the road, my team spent 5!
Seagliders will fix this

A cool thing about getting older is you get to choose whether you're stiff because you worked out or stiff because you didn't.
The problem with @Rivian Ghostbusters mode is I need it year-round.

We are going to make this a regular event, but until we get into a rhythm expect our first meetup to be a couple of great lightning talks and then some informal feature demos in the hallway track.
We're hosting our first technical meetup in SF on October 26. Drinks and pizza will be served, thrilling talks will be given. Join us: luma.com/0qr6bxcw

enterprise adoption of new source control is a big ask, so making a smooth bridge from the past to the future is a big part of our offer
New on our Engineering blog: Creating in-house source control.
In May, we merged around 2,500 code changes per day. In September, we merged more than 30,000 per day. As a result, we became bottlenecked by developer infrastructure built for human (rather than agent) scale.
Here, we share how we built a new version control system—and fully migrated our monorepo from git—in five months: anthropic.com/engineering/re…
Preach.
it's insane how much we can save by leveraging our own computers
a few weeks ago i saw my github actions bill was starting to cost, so i started running all mac CI jobs with my self-hosted runners on my m4 mac mini
i just calculated - if i used one of the CI providers for all those mac CI runs, it would have been a $1500-$3000/month bill
absolutely crazy that:
- my self-hosted runners didn't even use half of my mac mini's capacity, yet the equivalent from cloud providers for just a month of usage is more expensive than buying the mac mini itself
- this is way higher than my LLM bills. computers are going to be the real expensive part of software development, not AI

One of the best parts of building software is having fun with it. And the team definitely did with this Halloween update! 🎃
Now live for Rivian owners and their little ones. 👻

Sometimes the strategy is as “simple” as: make important thing that’s currently extremely bad, extremely good.
Got this text from a friend this morning after their large public tech company rolled out Linear:
“Whereas I just used [legacy tool] when I had to, with Linear I actually… want to use it.”
Your context will always be wrong if people only use your system when they’re forced to.
That’s why we invest so much in making Linear great for the builders actually doing the work. The best system of record is one people want to keep up to date.
I cleaned up and put together a list of the new TLDs coming!
Lots of fun ones on the way.

The fact that Western embassies and international missions are openly refusing to give in to the Kremlin’s threats and publicly declaring that they’re staying in Kyiv is a great slap in Putin’s face and a very eloquent middle finger to him. Excellent and thank you.

Our industry is in the fuck around phase right now but all people who have been in open source for longer than a decade know that we’re gonna move to the find out phase very quickly
