Big Signaling is the cure for Application Fever.
ALT Mean applications submitted per MD applicant in anesthesiology, dermatology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and urology over the past 5 years. These specialties give large numbers of signals to applicants, and the number of applications submitted has decreased significantly in each specialty.

Following the drop in overall ENT match rates, U.S. MD senior match rates also declined across several competitive specialties in 2026.

New 2026 NRMP data show a tougher year for ENT applicants overall.
Overall match rate fell from 71.2% to 67.4%, with declines for both U.S. MD and U.S. DO applicants. Meanwhile, IMG match rate increased substantially from 21.2% to 37.1%.
