Excelente librito.

Among patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, the RAS(ON) inhibitor daraxonrasib led to significantly longer overall survival and progression-free survival than chemotherapy. Full phase 3 RASolute 302 trial results: nej.md/4nWaxvM

ALT Graph from a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine on daraxonrasib versus chemotherapy for metastatic pancreatic cancer. The x-axis represents months, and the y-axis shows the percentage of patients alive. Two lines indicate survival rates: daraxonrasib (blue) and chemotherapy (gray). The bottom section lists patients at risk over time. Title and journal logo are included.

People who don't follow cancer research often ask me why we haven't cured cancer. That perception masks a wonderful reality: We make amazing, stepwise progress every year, and the result is that many people live much longer today than they would have previously.
Right now we're in the thick of the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the biggest research meeting on new cancer medicines, and this morning a bunch of really important studies dropped. I'm going to review them here.
This first image is the result for daraxonrasib, a treatment for pancreatic cancer that is generating consdirable excitement. The green line is the probability of living for patients who got the new drug; the gray one is the chemo control group.
If you follow cancer drugs, a chart like this will make your breath hitch a little. I'm going to review these and some other data here.

MedPAC has done a real service continually updating rigorous estimates of overpayments to MA plans.
Recent risk adjustment changes made a real dent, but Medicare is still paying MA plans ~14% more than it would cost to cover comparable beneficiaries in Traditional Medicare.
Replying to @Michael_Chernew
I am particularly proud of the analysis of payments to MA plans, which is a complex analytic issue (& MedPAC methods continuously improve). The estimates are often controversial but very robust. Much of what I have seen claiming otherwise is analytically or conceptually flawed

In the medicine of the future, molecular physicians built from a patient’s own cells might ferret out cancer, repair injured tissue, and even remove plaque from blood vessels.
Researchers have now taken a step toward that vision: They’ve coaxed tracheal cells to form coordinated groups called organoids that can propel themselves with tiny appendages. When added to wounded neurons in the lab, these “anthrobots” helped neurons repair themselves.
