This might sound crazy.
But one of the skills you NEED to learn is how to deal with a more and more illiterate society full of emotionally dysregulated people.
If you keep getting frustrated every day over how "ďumb" everything/everyone seems, the stress of it is going to wreck your mind.

UPDATE: The couple's attorney, Kenneth Mollins, says Douglas Elliman has fired the real estate agent.

A Long Island couple is suing after they said they received a text message from a real estate agent while searching for an apartment in Queens that said, “ugh they are black.”
According to the lawsuit, the realtor apparently texted the couple instead of the owner of the apartment in Flushing.
Lisa Renee Olaso said she and her fiancé had driven up from Delaware to view the apartment, as they were relocating to New York. They have since found a home in Commack.
She said she received the text message as they were getting out of the car to meet the agent. When she confronted the agent, the agent tried to unsend the message but was unable to. She said the agent apologized, “and I appreciate that, but it doesn’t change the pain.”
“It doesn’t take away people who on social media had to read that and see that we’re still having to deal with this unnecessary discrimination, prejudice and racism in 2026,” she said.
The couple said they’re not looking for money but for their story to be told. “This is why I wanted to talk to an attorney to just see if there is any way to avoid anyone feeling the way I feel right now and the way that I felt when that took place,” Olaso said.
The lawsuit was filed in Queens alleging violations of state and federal discrimination laws.
1010 WINS has reached out to the realtor and her company for comment but has not heard back.

John Boorman has a good line about this. When you make a film, you’re turning money into light. But the real trick is that you have to then turn the light back into money.

funny how black children and teenagers are just expected to go through racist nonsense and to accept it as a normal part of white children and teenagers’ evolutions.
Black boys are so vulnerable man, especially in institutional settings smh. Where are the public education campaigns highlighting their plights? I guess that would require the public to actually care about their suffering.
She groomed and raped a 14 year old kid she met as his therapist in a juvenile detention center, and continued to bang him until he was 17.
We talk about the 50-100 teachers who make the news each year. But there are 1000’s of women in other professions or who just happen to live in the neighborhood raping teens too. And no one will ever know about them.

A racist realtor for Douglas Elliman accidentally texted "ugh they are black" to a Black couple looking for an apartment in NYC. The text was meant to be sent to the landlord, but it was sent directly to the prospective renters.
After realizing the mistake, the agent attempted to apologize, but the couple is moving forward with legal action by filing a housing discrimination lawsuit alleging federal and New York state housing law violations and racial profiling.
By sending a text like that, it implies that the realtor expected the property owner to be racist too and share that sentiment.
Housing discrimination is notoriously difficult to prove in US courts. There's always subtle excuses like another applicant, credit score, income requirements, etc. This racist text is a smoking gun that bypasses plausible deniability.
Douglas Elliman is one of the largest real estate brokers in the USA. They terminated the agent, but that doesn't make up for the racism and the indignity the couple faced.

I keep seeing the words "larper" and "larping" all over my timeline.
Can we just go back to calling people posers? We already perfected that word in the 90s. 😂

Character, character, character.
"The character can carry the entire novel."
Dean Koontz binged 34 John D. MacDonald books in 38 days fresh out of college. This is what he learned:
"He'd wanna tell you about this character, so he'd just stop. And he'd write three to five pages about this character."
"The first time I hit this, I went, 'what is this? I wanna read the rest of the story.' And then by the time I got to the end of page five of the character stuff when the story started again, I actually was saying, 'No! I wanna know more about this character.'"
"Kurt Vonnegut actually said about John D. MacDonald, if thousands of years from now, some alien race came to Earth, and they stumbled across the work of John D. MacDonald buried under the ruin of a house, it would be the greatest finding they could ever make to understand how the human race works."

Ghostbusters has two really good concepts- what if catching ghosts was a blue collar job, and what if a few greedy geeks managed to corner the market on it.
They were idiots at best, opportunist assholes at worst. But... they're the only guys for the job. THAT was the whole idea

I feel like the 1980s loved black people in a way other decades did not. Michael Jackson, Eddie Murphy, Michael Jordan, Prince, Whitney, Janet, Magic, Oprah, LL, and yes, Cosby and OJ, just to name a few. They were LOVED.
