🧵There is no good reason to support russia or be indifferent to Ukraine. If you support russia or are indifferent, you are either a braindead moron, soulless, evil, and/or paid off. Lets break it down: "denazification" - Ukraine has the lowest number of right wing affiliated groups in Europe. Despite the russian tropes, there are very few actual nazis in Ukraine. Ukraine is a multicultural, multi faith, liberal and open society. russia has the highest amount of open nazi in the world. These groups are violent. These groups openly attack and abuse jews, muslims, homosexuals, Ukrainians and other minority groups. These groups are funded and supported by the russian government. These nazi values are supported by most average russians - ask them what they think of the war and what Ukrainians are. russia has no legal, ethical or moral justification to invade Ukraine on this basis - it is projecting and should start with itself. "demilitarization" - Ukraine was never a military threat to any country in the region. Ukraine had zero military ambitions to invade another country. Ironically, it is now a far more effective and capable military force. russia has invaded Georgia, Chechnya, Ukraine, and will likely continue to invade others if they are not stopped now. "protect russian speakers" - russian speakers were NEVER under threat in Ukraine. The russian language is protected under the Ukrainian constitution. Most Ukrainians are bilingual speaking both russian and Ukrainian. russia has tortured, arrested and killed more russian speakers in Ukraine in two years, than Ukraine has in the last 200 years. russia had levelled and destroyed cities largely inhabited by russian speakers and ethnic russians such as Mariupol, Adiivka and others. russia is the biggest threat to russian speakers in Ukraine. "but NATO" - Ukrainians never wanted to be part of NATO. It was not until russia invaded did Ukraine change its mind. "NATO expansion" is a myth. NATO does not "expand". Countries join because they do not want to be invaded by russia - Finland and Sweden are case and point. Even Putin wanted to join NATO in 2000s - look it up. "Maidan/CIA/Nuland/Bandera/Soros coup" - a domestic grassroots democratic anti-corruption protest by hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians ten years ago is none of russia's business. Its a domestic issue. This is as palpably absurd as saying Canada had the right to invade the US because of the January 6 riots. This is a smooth brained glue eating conspitard way of thinking to support this type of invasion. "These lands are historically russian" - they arent. Even if they were, thats a bull shit reason. We live in the 21st century where borders are determined by law - not by conquest. This isnt the 17th century (except obviously russia). If we are going to pull this shit - then russia should give Ukraine back Kursk, Bilhorod, Kuban, Don, Volga, and Amur - all of which are historically Ukraine This isn't just about land. This is why "just cutting a deal" wont work. Negotiation is merely procrastination. russia invaded TEN YEARS AGO. We tried negotiation. It failed. Several times. This is because russia's goal is to exterminate Ukraine. Its not a "proxy war" its not a "civil war" its not a special military operation. russia's invasion is a genocidal and imperialistic war of aggression. There is no other way to cut it. They use terror, violence, sexual crimes and gross violations of human rights to terrorize the Ukrainian population in an attempt to exterminate the Ukrainian population, nation, culture and history. If you support russia - fuck you on behalf of every moral, rational, free thinking, informed and compassionate being of the human race.
