I couldn't let this go without some extra love; so here's 10000 agents playing Minecraft on lovable.dev 1500 after 13s, 5k after 35s and 10k in roughly 60s. Running on ~200 x 48 core machines with NVMe Follow and I'll teach u all my tricks

abliterating dsv4.1 flash to build GLaDOS, purely for the love of the game
Back from @modal eng hackathon in Mohonk. My team built a Portal-themed AI escape room, all running on Modal. The twist: your AI helper, GLaDOS, Is secretly trying to phish you for more permissions. 60+ eng played and we won “For the Love of the Game” category. Check it out:

two big changes in 18.17.0, both backported from the upcoming omp²: our new streaming bash engine & integration with ovnfs, an agentic filesystem providing an alternative to git worktrees with much more desirable properties 🧵

a common mental of Singapore is a Disneyland with Death Penalty but in reality it’s a lot more like living in a country where everyone is a Larry David turned up to 11
This is the most Singaporean thing ever lol

I'm joining @modal! Software is undergoing a revolution; we need new tools and infrastructure for this new era. @modal is the platform I want in these times, so I decided to help build it. If you want to come build it with me: modal.jobs and my DMs are open!

it took me building a shitty version of it to understand why pi durable is great. in essence it’s “just” way to serialize your session. that sounds straightforward until you try to do it yourself and realize there are tons of choices that if you get a single one wrong, you lock yourself out of building anything usable.
pi durable is fucking awesome btw

every time I think about slack’s architecture this image comes to mind
it is honestly quite baffling to me that openai and anthropic still use slack. i expect this will change within the next six months. they could quite clearly build and maintain internal versions that are *more* secure, robust, and featureful with a team of ~10

ETH is false. Still wrapping my head around this one. We’ve spent decades trying to understand the limits of computation. Seeing AI challenge some of those fundamental assumptions is pretty wild! github.com/openai/math/blob/…

In May, we had just closed our best quarter ever – and of course decided to re-build @hexanalytics from scratch. Today we're announcing two things: Hex 4.0, the first analytics platform truly built for agents; and a $100m fundraise at a $1.2B valuation, led by @peakxvpartners The world is changing fast, and we're not slowing down! What if we just built a replica of the Oval Office in a mental hospital and told him he won re-election?

Finding it very educational and interesting to learn about the hardware layer of GPUs: how they are structured, the obvious advantages and disadvantages bs CPUs. This is from Modal’s excellent “GPU Glossary” print book @can gave me (the PDF is free here: modal.com/gpu-glossary)

a lot of the @modal playbook is pretty simple: make hard things with infra easy so that people use more ai infra.
Tinker changed how people do post-training. We're big fans, and so are many of the teams we work with. But as those teams scale up, they keep raising the same two problems: per-token pricing gets expensive quickly, and you’re limited to the models and features the provider decides to support. We think a good API deserves more than one implementation. Today we're releasing Spindle, an open-source, Tinker-compatible training server that runs in your Modal workspace. Your existing Tinker scripts run unchanged, and because you own the server, you pay for GPU time instead of tokens.

Some projects are only done for shareholder value. This one was done for the love of the game, literally! My favorite online game, Curvytron, is now backed by the Sticky Sessions primitive my team recently shipped :) curvytron.modal.dev/#/ Shoutout to @siwonpark_, @ksinpoint1, and @kathirmeyyappan for embodying the @modal spirit and shipping this with speed.
