ALT This past week, Berkeley Journalism announced the Advisory Board for The California Local News Fellowship Program. With a focus on underserved communities, the program sets out to support and strengthen local news reporting across the Golden State. With a $25M backing, it's said to be the largest state allocation ever made in the U.S. to support community-based journalism. A member of the advisory board is our very own, Julie Patel Liss, Head of Journalism at The Department of Television, Film, and Media Studies in the College of Arts and Letters.The esteemed group of advisors are trusted with ensuring that the program serves as an incubator for young journalists across California as they cover local communities in need of strong journalism. Congratulations to Professor Liss! We hope her position will allow for outstanding CSU students an equal opportunity at these fellowships.The application for the first cohort of newsrooms will open on February 15th.
