So in just one week we’ve had two supposedly unbuyable things priced: knowingly and systematically causing many millions of Americans to believe a profoundly consequential and dangerous lie ($787.5M), and having Harvard rename half of itself after you ($300M).
Dang.
Unless the settlement includes *some* fix or fixes in addition to a 10-figure sum of money—such as primetime anchors apologizing and emphatically saying Biden won fair & square—it’s a drag. nytimes.com/live/2023/04/18/…

Look at all the cyclists that will soon have bike lanes on Connecticut ave @MayorBowser @MotoristRights ah wait a minute there aren’t any. Definitely a good plan to take away parking and traffic lanes on a major north south artery NOT! @DDOTDC #saveconnecticutave

Forcing survivors to provide “documents” immediately after being raped to access abortion is policy that protects rapists.
Forcing victims to come forward in specific, traumatizing ways is a silencing tactic. That silence aids abuse. Holding healthcare hostage on top is depraved
Florida will now require rape and incest victims to show “documents” to prove they got raped.
If they can’t provide them, the government will mandate they give birth to their rapist’s child. people.com/health/rape-inces…

Does this include DeSantis funded immigration air flights to Martha’s Vineyard?
Please share. A DeSantis backed bill would establish felonies for having undocumented people in your home or cars, even if related. In Florida, there are 722,000 U.S. citizens who live with an undocumented person. They could face up to 15 years in jail.

Oh DAMN. Rep. Justin Jones is now calling for the House Speaker of Tennesse to resign. He says "We must hold him accountable" and that "What we saw on Thursday was an attempt to crucify democracy." Republicans don't know what's coming their way. Rep. Jones will give them hell.

I’m going to say something that will unsettle people, but I’m willing to bet all the money I don’t have that it’s true:
Despite how disturbing the materials are Harlan Crow has displayed, there are almost certainly more disturbing items NOT displayed.
The displays are a test.

GOP are losing their mind over this, but there’s precedent - including their own.
Courts ordered Trump to fully restore DACA. They ignored it w/ Republican support.
GOP operate in complete contempt for the law until they’re in a position to shred Constitutional & human rights.

Following yet another school shooting, Tennessee Republicans have moved on from offering empty "thoughts and prayers" in place of action.
Now they've expelled two Democratic legislators who demanded safety for students and educators who just want to learn and teach in peace.
