Announced before @BoredApeYC but minted after, when @CAOS_BOY, the artist, decided to redo all the art following wild accusations from parts of the @cryptopunks community claiming he was “stealing art from Google” (he was) A few weeks later, 10,000 boys sold out in just four days, setting a record at the time, and turning that moment of chaos into NFT history. That madness became the foundation of TAB and it pulled in the kind of community that thrives on chaos, curiosity, and fun. The mint ran smoother than most projects back then, with almost no failed transactions, because we built a smart contract upgrade that made minting faster and cheaper by optimizing gas when everyone else was burning ETH. TAB pioneered the delayed reveal, which turned the mysterious Baghead Boy into an overnight icon, a symbol of early NFT culture. Some say it was genius. Others say Caos just didn’t finish the art. Either way, many agreed, it was better that way, unrevealed. The Universe Expands: The Alien Girl & The Alien UFO We released TAG and TAU as companion pieces, each linked to the timestamp of the original TAB mint, creating an immutable temporal fingerprint on-chain. TAU, an animated showcase that chronicled TAB’s journey from deep space to Earth, captured in beautifully crafted GIFs that expanded the lore and aesthetic of the collection. We were the first NFT project to invite a community member to collaborate on the art, resulting in The Alien Doogle, a milestone in decentralized creativity. We are convinced that The Pepeing is not a dream, but an inevitable reality in motion. Minting Architecture & System Design 1. On-Chain Mint Execution The minting process will be executed natively on the Layer 1 (L1) BasedAI blockchain, a network purpose-built for zk-LLMs and smart contracts, ensuring immutability and trust-minimized settlement at the protocol layer. Each minted PFP will be stored fully on-chain, leveraging L1 storage primitives to provide censorship resistance and verifiable permanence. By anchoring digital artifacts directly within the L1 state, the project guarantees that PFPs remain independent of centralized servers, IPFS gateways, or any off-chain dependencies. 2. Liquidity Layer While mint execution and storage will occur within the L1 environment, the funding layer is decoupled to optimize user access and liquidity. Participants will contribute mint (low) fees in $pepecoins (ERC-20 standard), operating on Ethereum mainnet. This introduces a cross-domain architecture: L1 blockchain: Asset minting, state updates, and metadata anchoring. Ethereum / pepecoins: Payment rail, leveraging established liquidity pools, token interoperability, and user familiarity with pepecoins meme token. This design achieves economic composability while preserving the sovereignty of L1 on-chain storage. 3. Technical Rationale Security & Permanence: On-chain storage at the L1 layer guarantees long-term resilience. Liquidity Optimization: Using $pepecoins on Ethereum/EVM maximizes accessibility and taps into meme-driven market depth. Composability: Decoupling execution from payment enables modularity for future integrations (cross-chain or layer-2 extensions). About the AI-Powered Meme Experience In addition to the cryptographic and architectural robustness, the minting flow will integrate an AI-powered assistant our Chat PPt, designed to enhance user experience without compromising the meme-native ethos of OG Pepe culture. More about the AI-Assistant Features will be informed such as Dynamic Mint Narration, Personalized Rarity Insights, etc. Tone Preservation The design philosophy follows the principle of “serious back end, meme front end”: Back end = mathematically rigorous, cryptographically secure, fully on-chain.
