Russia killed a one year old girl in her stroller today. Her mother died in the hospital a few hours later.
Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."

Trump's remarks were made the same day Russia conducted a drone strike killing six civilians including children in a Kharkiv region park, plus missile and energy infrastructure attacks leaving hundreds of thousands without power.

Oh no I only get 5 weeks of vacation a year from the job where it's illegal to fire me, and all it leads to is a retirement where I'll make even more money somehow. I must loot this Gamestop for le liberté.
I ran the Lake Washington Half Marathon today in 1:48. Even though I've been running regularly since 2020, this is the first time I've done a real training block for a race. I've been running 5 days/wk since June, working up to 30+ mpw. Great experience -- can't wait for more!

This is one of the most cowardly, shameful acts in modern American history.
But it's only possible because Congress, for decades, has been giving up their constitutional authority to let the President do whatever he wants.
STOP GIVING THE EXECUTIVE POWERS

If you solution to Social Security insolvency involves raising taxes on the blue line to give more benefits to the orange line, you should at least acknowledge the profound intergenerational injustice involved.
I like @TheFEEDme's product well enough but the fact that every bit of text on the website and marketing is pure uncut AI slop is fairly offputting

MAGAstan is remarkable. Trump announces a strategically insane and morally bankrupt deal to get some diesel from Russia that directly undermines established U.S. policy. Then his trained seals immediately start claiming oil targets are off-limits.

It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel.
If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.

IFP is proud to endorse the bipartisan permitting reform deal.
BAAJA is what "race to the top" legislation looks like.
Instead of a milquetoast lowest-common-denominator bill, BAAJA is a combination of the most ambitious energy permitting ideas from both sides of the aisle.
🚨 WE HAVE A PERMITTING DEAL🚨
And it is easily the best permitting bill we've ever gotten!
- The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act is HUGE (400+ pages) and both sides got a LOT.
- The bill is much bigger and better than either Manchin post-IRA in 2022 or Manchin-Barrasso in 2024.
Once I finish reading the text I'll publish an explainer. For now, here are a few high level takeaways.
1. Transmission: The bill is absolutely HUGE for transmission, going further than Manchin-Barrasso. Includes: interregional transmission, limited federal backstop authority, interconnection queue reforms, directives for advanced grid-enhancing tech, and oversight of utilities. It's absolutely AMAZING all of this got in.
2. NEPA: The bill has BIG changes to NEPA, including fixes for judicial review that underpins the law's costs. Still reading but this is even better than I expected!
3. Certainty: The bill includes strong provisions to push back on misuse of permitting, like we're seeing with the admin's abuses against offshore wind.
4. Historic Preservation: The bill includes changes to the NHPA 106 process, including changes to judicial review that will help right-size the process.
5. Clean Water: The bill fixes problems with section 401 by adding new requirements for states and makes section 404 nationwide permits easier to comply with.
6. Geothermal: The bill includes big wins for geothermal, including parity with oil and gas catexs.
7. Mining: The bill fixes the "Rosemont decision"
8. Endangered Species: The bill creates a new path for states to take on endangered species consultation.
9. Hydro: Fixes for certain hydroelectric projects
10. Ratepayer protection: The bill adds protections for ratepayers from added data centers. Looks to be stronger than the House passed bill by quite a bit.

I really think if you work in tech you should consider telling your boss that you don’t think it’s a good idea to run around renaming products to court the favor of a lame duck president with a sub-40% approval rating.

This graph should sink home for all of us. And keep in mind: 2010-2018 was a period when solar and wind growth was far slower than it is now. Solar was a miniscule part of new electricity capacity in this period, for example, yet a major share of all federal studies under the National Environmental Policy Act. That's insane.

permitting reform is very good and Dems should support it because
1. it will lower carbon emissions
2. it will not help Trump politically (most benefits won’t be felt until 2029)
3. we won’t get a better deal while Trump is President
4. we can always improve it in 2029

Good. The bipartisan tradition of meddling with permits of disfavored energy technologies must end. BAAJA’s project certainty reforms, which incorporate bipartisan ideas from the House and Senate FREEDOM Act, are going to prove incredibly effective.

Huge kudos to the 4 senators and the White House for completing negotiations on energy permitting reform.
The bill has been so difficult because the 4 senators came with very different priorities and constituencies.
Capito (R-WV): pipelines and permitting certainty
Whitehouse (D-RI): reducing emissions
Lee (R-UT): removing regulatory barriers and protecting states' rights
Heinrich (D-NM): protecting lands; transmission and renewables
They came to the table because the current system fails on all four sets of priorities. But permitting reform is not zero sum. This deal advances all of them. It's good for America and the American people.
