There is no way to gloss over the concerns this recent event brings to the forefront. And there are some simple ways to reassure the public. Having spent 25 years in this space, the most critical thing we need to do today is be transparent and timely with all data and information. Missing and delayed data from the @USDA are deafening, leaving a critical void for speculation, and ripening the case for distrust in the entire government. Very proud of speed at which the scientists in Minnesota & Texas, other states have shared data from birds, goats, cows & human w/ @GISAID, enabling the world to closely evaluate this situation. @CDCFlu is also on top of tracking of the human case (rapidly sharing some data). It is time for @USDA to share & encourage rapid sharing of all data, including virus sequences, from all animals on these impacted farms (other nearby poultry & swine critical). Also, critical to share aggregated data from workers (farm, transport, milk consolidation sites), review biosecurity inspections from each impacted farm / dairy facility, track all visitors, & show data on the effectiveness of the processes to detect & shuttle away contaminated milk and inactivate H5N1 virus with standard pasteurization. Simple tests, surely being done daily now...just show some data. Transparency, Timeliness, Trust are all important. Let's do this the right way this time.
Dairy cows in Ohio have tested positive for H5N1 bird flu, making it the 6th state to report cases. The dairy operation received cows from a Texas dairy where bird flu was later confirmed.

this is exactly why i say buprenorphine needs to be over-the-counter. the risks of 'misuse' are far outweighed by the benefits of ... not being dead. it sucks that some people can't see past their own bias against euphoria to see that we're letting people die for no reason
Medication treatment for opioid use disorder was associated with ⬇️ relative risk for OD death by 34-38% Non-medication treatments in state licensed facilities were associated with 2-fold ⬆️ overdose death risk, compared to not treating at all sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

This is an important election security story that @ericgeller writes. The voting system industry and so many senior election officials choose superficial shows over substantive security efforts. All the while, 2024 election security risks abound and threats are real.
Last week's meeting between voting machine vendors and cyber experts was supposed to help repair their tense relationship as 2024 approaches. But leading voting security researchers weren't invited, and they're calling the event a stunt. My story: themessenger.com/tech/when-a…

The claim that "there are currently 120 studies of ketamine treatments for mental illness in [adolescent] population" is tmk very, very false. It's hard to keep track, but ruehr.org/shiny/PsyChild/ lists less than 15 ongoing trials with this indication in this population.
In this episode of the psychedelic medicine podcast, Dr. @johnedwardsmd joins to discuss the potential of ketamine treatments for mental health conditions in adolescent populations. bit.ly/ketamine4adolescents

Question for ppl who dismiss #longcovid/think it's all a fallacy: Have you ACTUALLY spoken to someone suffering from it?? You think thousands+thousands, are all lying/exaggerating?? I spoke w/@loscharlos, @edyong209, Margot Gage. Eye opening to say the least. @PBS #PBSVitals
Spoke to @PBS along with @edyong209 about how #LongCovid is hidden in plain sight — yet is the fastest growing public health crisis in the country, for which there are still zero answers for. 3+ years in, the degree of suffering & QOL is truly unfathomable.

This #psychedelics study is unique in so many ways, but one of them is that the playlist is designed by Lisa Summer who’s a guided-imagery & music (GIM) therapist and also a study therapist. GIM was created by Helen Bonny who was one of the original Spring Grove therapists 1/
Great presentation at @PsychedelicSci by Yvan Beaussant, Roxy Sholevar, and Lisa Summer, on #psychedelic-AT for demoralization in hospice patients. Incredibly deep and powerful work.
