Having read the spec,
I think Cambridge International A Level in "Thinking Skills" is one of the best qualifications I have ever seen.
It defines an incredibly core set of valuable, transferable and relevent skills.

This is incredibly cool!
A teacher is teaching his class of 10 year olds how to program on a Spectrum, and they have made all their new games available to download. Some look outstanding!
I wish my school in the 80s had been this ace!

I'm catching up on stuff I should have done in my teens.
I've drawn Sierpiński triangle to a terminal.
Time to think about animating it ...

I implemented Bresenham's line algorithm and my own 2D Matrix transformations to animate/rotate a shape with ascii characters in a terminal.
Life milestone complete!

I have a wealth of skills that I can contribute over a range of professional roles and problem domains ...
But right now, all I want to do is engage in an ultimately pointless task of building a cool puppet.
I recently removed 10,158 lines of python from my karaoke system.

10 years of effort have been superseded by newer tools and techniques.
The project is even better now! Never be too precious about old code :)

It's hip and it's happening; BarCamp Canterbury 2022 - Saturday 29th October.
We've got an EventBrite page ready to roll.

I've been experimenting AV1 as a video codec for karakara.uk . Took me a while to find the right ffmpeg settings. I'm in absolute awe. Videos are half the filesize and look better than the h264 equivalent. How is this quality even possible!?
I'm making some KaraKara.uk enhancements.
Optimise only when needed:
Old 'first load' time == 35 seconds
New 'first load' time == 3 seconds
Serving content though static files is like engaging afterburners!
Those movie jokes about enhancing pixelated images ... what a load of ... Oh!? It's real positive.security/blog/video…
Created a super simple RSA demo implementation in Python.
I still don't think I have a proper handle on the maths behind this crazy prime/coprime stuff.
Next step: how to I teach this ...

I encountered a rewrite of an old classic windows game Lode Runner mmr.quarkrobot.com/ . Me and @DavidElliston made a bunch of levels back in 1995. Last night I was able to copy our original levels off my original 3.5floppy school disk. Let's play them; 26 years later!
A student just typed "loop" into google during an open book programming assessment. If you don't know the basics by now, you aint passing, even with the mighty super powers of google. (Half laughing, half crying)
The last of my marking lays slain at my feet. I heroically turn in slow motion towards the sunset and utter the immortal phrase "A teachers work is never done; time to plan for tomorrow!", screen fades, roll credits. Tune in for episode 1823 tomorrow!
I despise marking assignments.
No matter how much I try to describe the criteria and show examples, my students seem to be immune to comprehending the material and just write utter drivel.
I either need to leave the profession or buy bigger sticks
Many thanks to Ian from mutant-caterpillar.co.uk/sho… for repairing my Spectrum +2 making my Friday night amazing!
