There are now 642k Texans who have early voted who did not vote at all in the 2024 Presidential election. 48% of them (310,997) are Hispanic. And 39% (122,461) of those Hispanic surge voters are under the age of 30.
I strongly believe this will be the "why" behind Tuesday's results (c/o @50plus1news)
What a fantastic example of why we need to ditch live calls. If you want to accurately represent hard audiences, you have to rethink how to reach them, not just settle for huge upweighting.
We polled Kansas. Democrats wanted to talk. Republicans, not so much. Gift link -> wapo.st/4yUVruu

Wrote a bit about how I am reading and using the polls right now (spoiler: not to breathlessly predict the outcomes of close races; some uncertainty is good for ya!)

"Do you worry [Abdul El-Sayed] is a bit too left wing to win in Michigan?"
Michigan voter "At this point what do we have to worry about? Anything but what we have. We're on our way to hell so at this point socialist, socialise, social, dont matter to me, lower my cost of living"

🍽️The Cheesecake Factory is a bipartisan pastime, according to FEC filings.
Republican Sen. Tim Scott takes the Cheesecake Crown, but Missouri Democratic Rep. Wesley Bell is in second and Oklahoma Senate Democratic nominee N'Kiyla Thomas is in third.
Sounds like a great time for all pollsters to follow @ChangePolls's lead and join the AAPOR Transparency Initiative. If a pollster won't disclose methods, it's time to start asking questions. aapor.org/standards-and-ethi…

The 2018 and 2026 midterms look different. The culture has shifted and so has Gen Z.
From @ChangePolls's latest nationwide RV poll: in their own words, voters summarize Trump's current term as president as "disaster," "corrupt," and "failure"

“Big guy!”
I love to see real, resilient people running for office
As Republicans demonize @AngieNixon, and JD Vance tells her "you don't belong in America," they run the risk of having it backfire. Nixon can be a compelling figure. Here she is getting emotional when I asked her to tell voters something personal about herself. @CBSMiami
Mama mia!
We’ve got exclusive new polling on local data center development at @heatmap_news.
Over the past year, we’ve asked Americans whether they would support or oppose a data center being built near where they live.
We haven’t changed the wording. When we first polled the question a year ago, Americans were split 43-42 on support/oppose.
When we asked again in Feb, a bare majority opposed data centers.
Today, 75% of Americans say they would oppose a data center being built near where they live, and 61% said they would “strongly oppose” such a proposal.
It’s a swift, massive shift in US public opinion on a scale that I wouldn’t have once thought possible. More details, including the party ID & rural/urban breakdown, in my new story: heatmap.news/daily/data-cent…

Big win for Fred Clark, who took the Democratic nomination in a competitive three-way primary for Wisconsin's 7th CD. On to November!
Congrats, Fred and team.
