every school we look at touts its child-led alternative gentle style and my complaint about every school I’ve ever attended was it wasn’t hard or strict enough!

Brewster Kahle of the Internet Archive makes the case for web preservation in The Atlantic. 🌐 In The Internet Needs A Memory, Kahle explains why blocking the Wayback Machine won’t stop AI. It will only make the public record harder to preserve. Read it 👉 theatlantic.com/technology/2… @Brewster_Kahle @TheAtlantic

went to Mass with all 3 kids for the first time and miraculously they all behaved wonderfully in the pews, even the toddlers. only infraction was holding up the communion line demanding “one for johnny!?”

As someone who thinks copyright should be abolished or severely limited, I love that ChatGPT creates the tracing, letter, and activity pages usually hidden behind some Scholastic paywall. 📕📓

Professor Moriarty (my 2 yo) figured out how to open her bedroom door, get downstairs, open the child-proofed pantry, opened a canister of raisins, opened the door to the den, and ate raisins while ripping pages out of black’s law dictionary at 3am. 🫠

I remember being nervous taking an infant out because they may cry and disturb someone. 🥹 Now I take the toddlers out and worry about them trying to rob a bank.

I’ll bet it’s because it takes so much longer to BF than give a bottle, you have nothing else to do except talk and sing and read for hours a day for months with BFing versus the bottle chugging champs.
Breastfeeding increases the child's IQ by about 6 points. That's what this study found, an intervention no less (not just a correlation). You cannot replicate the action of breastfeeding nor the composition of the mother's milk in a factory. It's way more than just vitamins and calcium.

We took an ancient tv out of the basement so the kids could watch a movie when they were all sick and they managed to break it within days. Like just pushed it over (on the floor). 🫠

Montessori Baby says NO screens, not even when sick, not for a family movie, not even once.

if we learned anything from lululemon suing costco over dupes it's that the primary response to news of this infrngement suit by the public will be people saying "wait, i can get croc dupes for $7 at five below instead of $40 from croc!? on my way!" usaherald.com/crocs-sues-fiv…

The opposite is correct: have a million kids but stop being dramatic about chores. I do a sheet pan dinner 4/5 days during the week. 10 minutes of chopping during naptime and dinner is set.
What do ppl have against spreading out the kids a little bit in age? Like there's zero valor in cramming in three under three and then martyring yourself for it on the internet

I’d love to know how people manage this as my 3 year old requires a dramatic reading of the 56 page Tramway Engines book before he will even eat breakfast.
"poor people don't read to their kids!" No one is reading to their kids. Percentage of kids (0-8) being read to daily across the USA by income: $100K+ : 17% $60K-$100K: 13% $35K-$60K: 12% $35K- : 14%

Ok, so, what are we wearing as 30/40-something moms in the Fall and Winter? Where are we finding pants? I think I need to retire the skinny jeans and black leggings 😬

I feel my brain coming back 4.5 months postpartum. Like I finally have impromptu complex thoughts again. We’re so back.

An interesting question to ask is if this all goes bad what kind of Sarbox/Dodd-Frank/Volcker Rule comes out of it.

Hard to take seriously the philosophers who deny personhood to unborn babies but apply it to AIs.
