@APS_SPARK students kicked off the year reading “ScaredCited on the First Day of School” and creating bracelets to show how they feel. Words like “happave” (happy+brave) show just how creative and reflective they are! SEL+literacy=💥#APSDayOne #UndeniableImpact @APSInstructTech
Since first graders have been learning about parts of a plant, today we painted with fruit - blueberries! We learned about the history of the color while reading “Blue” then we took inspiration from “Blueberries for Sal” for our blue artwork! @APS_SPARK @APSMediaServ
Thank you @APSMediaServ for this mystery picture! Students across K-5 and loving adding to the design!
After reading “Ricky, a Rock that Couldn’t Roll” 3rd graders showed off their knowledge of rock classifications! Then also used their knowledge of force and motion to design a contraption to get their flat rocks to roll. @APS_SPARK @APSMediaServ
Celebrating International Dot Day with a variety of STEAM centers! @APS_SPARK @APSMediaServ
Students worked on the STEAM Learner Profile, “Critical Thinking.” Kindergarteners read the book, “Sky Color” and 2nd graders read the book, “I’m Not a Stick!”
After we read the SEL Book of the Month, “Like Lava in my Veins” we designed our own flying superheros! @APSMediaServ @APS_SPARK
Nothing sweeter then hearing a firstie during book checkout say, “Mrs. Cady! She looks like me!” 💚🐉 @APS_SPARK @APSMediaServ
This sweet dragon illustrated his library card to match some SPARK art! ♥️🐉 @APS_SPARK
First STEAM challenge in the books! Create a desk for Mr. S! 🤔 @APS_SPARK @APSMediaServ #readmorebooks #atlantapublicschools
The dedication page in, “That’s Not My Name” really stuck with me - so we made keychains with our own names! @APS_SPARK #readmorebooks #atlantapublicschools

Join SPARK families at the Virginia Highland Farmers Market on Thursday, November 16th for SPARK Day at the Market. Every student will bring a $5 coupon home from school that can be redeemed at the market Information Booth and spent with a farmer. The farmers market that day will feature a dragon-themed storytime, kids booth, and chef demonstration. The class with the most students to visit market will win a Sweet Treat Feast (provided by one of our local bakers) to be delivered to the school for their entire class. Remember to stop by the market Information Booth to get a tally for your class! Looking forward to seeing you at the market! @jennashea @drjtoney @sarapruett5 @KSulchek

I ran into a little surprise today @APS_SPARK! Look at this adorable gallery in the little library that @MsRannalsArt and her students created! I am obsessed! @drjtoney @sarapruett5
I’ve loved teaming up with our guidance counselor, Mr. Carter this week! We read the SEL book of the month, “Where Are You From?” And completed a No Place for Hate activity! Kiddos created a bookmark to hide in a library book! @APS_SPARK @APSMediaServ
Best way to spend a Saturday! Fan girling over meeting some of my favorite authors at the Page Turners Literacy Conference! @APS_SPARK @APSMediaServ
