We celebrated Read Across America week with our Starbooks Cafe! The students got to have a “sip” of 5 different genres and share their opinion on whether the author hooked them or not.

On Friday, we took advantage of the fact that it feels like spring in January and utilized our beautiful outdoor classroom for a mini publishing party. The kids have been working hard to research different space topics and write about them. Thank you @mommabirdmentor for joining!

Today in Book Club, we started something special that one of my college professors did for our literacy education class. We created Book Club Time Capsules! Every time we finish a book, we will place an item that represents the story into our time capsule. (1/2)

As we add items, I am keeping a running Google Doc with the book titles, when we finished reading them, and the description for the item we picked. This week, we finished Junie B. Jones: First Grader At Last! so we added Junie B’s new glasses to our time capsule! (2/2)
