I worked with a D1 player and a D3 player this morning.
On paper...
They looked almost identical.
6'4 200 pounds...
Both had elite bat speed. Both had power. Both were physically gifted.
But there was one difference.
Every time the D3 player mishit a ball...
He complained.
He got frustrated.
He pouted.
Then he'd struggle for the next 3 or 4 swings.
Pop-up.
Ground ball.
Weak contact.
The D1 player?
He'd mishit one.
Make an adjustment
...And move on.
No emotion.
No drama.
Just the next pitch.
It reminded me of something I learned playing professional baseball...
Sometimes the biggest difference between two players isn't their talent.
It's the conversation they're having with themselves in their head after they fail.
Your bat speed matters.
Your swing matters.
But the operating system between your ears matters just as much.
The best hitters I've been around don't waste energy explaining why they failed.
They spend their energy figuring out what to do on the next pitch.
- Jermaine Curtis
P.S. The next time you mishit a ball, don't ask, "What's wrong with me?"
Ask, "What's my adjustment?"
P.P.S. - If you enjoyed this, and thought it was helpful, share it.
(It tells me you want more content like this)

I thought the battle was working.
It is not.
Im distraught that so many ball players ONLY have white socks.

Love.

God.
Please match your primary colors.
& 4 you morons who bring up stirrups. I know. Any baseball person knows.

Happy for these guys and all of Waconia baseball, especially Jeremy Salden and Jeff Chrest. They stuck around in tougher times over 20+ yearsand bridged the gap to help get Waconia where it is today. @JDSalden
We are lucky to have such a great community of baseball families
When people think of @WaconiaBaseball and the @WaconiaLakers, these are three names that always should come to mind. Incredible ball players and great people. 13 years later, they now have that coveted state title. #HJSports
Our @MnBlenders 30+ baseball team that heads down to Ft Myers in October is looking to add a couple players after a few players were not able to make it.
DM me for info if interested. Oct 14-21. Need to be 35 to pitch but we could use guys that can play OF/IF as well.

One of our new batting circle mats was stolen some time about last Thurs night. They are not easy to hide and someone knows who took it. They are expensive and paid for through $$ made by volunteers! Reward offered. Pls retweet. @CRVL_Baseball @WaconiaLakers – at Minnesota, USA

Minnesotan Minor Leaguer of the Day (Inaugural Installment): Wayne Caughey, Brainerd '72.
The #MNTwins drafted Wayne out of St. Cloud State in 1974. He spent parts of SIX seasons at Triple A but never got the call up.
Who has any fun facts or cool stories to share about Wayne?
Great effort by the entire Waconia baseball community.
