Time for King Charles to visit Canada, where he is head of state and has every right to go whenever he wants. I have no doubt the welcome would be ecstatic. And very symbolic. Retweet if you agree.

I suppose it can’t be long until Trump decides he’ll solve the Northern Ireland ‘problem’ by sending all the Catholics south of the border, all the Protestants to Scotland and all the atheists/agnostics to Isle of Man; and then turns the place into a giant golf course.

Yes, I've seen the film. They were shouting out in anger right to the end, and they were bewildered, but only because their brutal grip on the country had collapsed to dust in a matter of hours.

Prof. Jeffrey Sachs: "We have a deep state. The CIA is the main continuation agency of that deep state and it carries a basic foreign policy. The foreign policy of the United States since 1945 was to destroy the Soviet Union and then, after 1991, to try to do the same with Russia and if not destroy it to fundamentally weaken it. In the case of the Middle East, there is a list General Wesley Clark provided that Israel, Netanyahu and his U.S. backers set out already in the 1990s. It said our job is to overthrow all of those governments, and we've been at that for more than 20 years... It started with Iraq. The list named Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Libya, Sudan and Somalia. Now I want people to understand the United States or its proxies have launched wars in six of those seven countries. That was a list agreed in 2001 based on a list from 1996 when Netanyahu came into office. His theory was Israel needs to be able to do what it wants to dominate the Palestinian people. So we need to overthrow all governments that support the Palestinians, especially that support them in militancy through Hamas or Hezbollah or other units Rather than negotiating with the Palestinians so that there's a Palestinian state, we will overthrow seven countries. Now that's what has happened. There's one left on that list, that's Iran... It's six out of seven right now."

I absolutely can't believe that @BBCNews TV is going AGAIN - notwithstanding protest by Board of Deputies at the Iranian professor Marandi who on @BBCr4today threw around accusations of Israel committing "holocaust" in Lebanon Chosen People antisemitism- a repellent bitterly antisemitic tool of Iranian propaganda. Incredibly shocking

The Court of Appeal has today ruled that elements of the ICRIR are unlawful. This is testament to the strength of families who have not given up fighting to establish the truth of what happened to their loved ones. Their lack of confidence in this body established under the shameful Legacy Act is real, honest & open. The British government must now listen to them, note today’s ruling & work with everyone here together on an agreed way forward for legacy, based on Stormont House. I will continue to stand with families in their pursuit of truth & justice.

Destroying ICRIR is the QUB priority but Hilary Benn is learning on the job and beginning to grasp the concept of implacable. Needs a better grasp of law. The Supreme Court ruled governments have the right to change their minds in re a Finucane inquiry. He needn't have had one.

3. Finally, great point made by caller Ursula – we need to see politicians giving the same commitment to improving to public services as they did to getting political agreement in 1998. Similar levels of courage & leadership will be required for the difficult decisions needed 4/4
