Yay! Having updated our Real Tenerife Town & City Guides last month, this month we’ve finally completed the update of our #hiking guides. Now it’s only the guidebook to finish formatting, and an overhaul of the website and our #Tenerife projects will be up to date #CanaryIslands

Midsummer magic in the Canaries. This is for those who want to discover a different side to the Canary Islands. Based on strange stories picked up on each island. #books #CanaryIslands #folklore #magic #horror jackmont.substack.com/p/once…

The picturesque town in the picture dominated our view for four months. Visits to other nearby towns involved lots of little surprises about the country. #Portugal #Alentejo curioustravellertales.substa…

I like signposts with personality. This colourful one was from Sierra de Aracena earlier in the year. Eye-catching and Vibrant, but not particularly useful. #walking #hiking #signposts #Spain #Andalucia #SierradeAracena

I just read an article in a Spanish newspaper debating what was the steepest street in the #CanaryIslands. Reading it, one in particular (out of many potentials) popped into my head. On the paper’s Facebook page, it was also the one most Canarios suggested. #Tenerife #LaPalma

A very brief taster of #Seville yet long enough to convince us we'll have to return to spend more time in the city.

It’s quite weird actually hearing people using notes we’ve written, and immensely satisfying when they feel the same about the journey as we did. What a fabulous podcast. #CaminodeSantiago #walking #slowtravel

Here’s a dish you don’t often see mentioned much in articles about Portuguese food, pica-pau (woodpecker). It’s actually beef or pork with pickled vegetables and olives. It’s called pica-pau because you eat it with toothpicks. #Portugal #food #dishes

A similar headline has popped up on numerous UK news publications about the #CanaryIslands issuing a 'dire warning to British holidaymakers.' Read beyond the headlines. There is no 'dire warning' to tourists. It's clickbait and sensationalist spin. #travel

Last week I read three articles about the Canary Island of La Palma in the UK tabloids, all pushing #LaPalma as an alternative to Tenerife. None reflected what makes La Palma such a great island to visit. You don’t go to La Palma just for a fun in the sun holiday. #CanaryIslands
