But Neymar was never close to Ronaldo
But Neymar isn’t a T3 player of this generation
But Neymar is overrated
“Salah” “KDB” “Lewandowski” “Mané” “Kane” “Benzema”
80% of Real Madrid fans say they would swap Cristiano Ronaldo for Neymar ble.ac/1TnMymS
Prem can take the title of being the most intense and fit league throughout a 90 min game but La Liga terramogs on technical ability and entertainment factor
Freaks of nature + whole bunch of insane tech dudes most ppl don’t even know. Haaland boutta move here too whew
Salah discourse is such a litmus test for how well someone actually understands football

Shift him to the left and put Salah in it’s genuinely. They both better than Henry and cr7 can play there it makes no sense to not include Salah
You’re telling me I get Embiid’s all timer offense + a very good interior defender (I know, not historically great or all timer) without his injury concerns?? Easy pick.
Grant Hill and Penny are close for 2nd and 3rd place with Rose last (he’s my fave)
This ruined my day, he was looking so good the entire preseason
Prayers up, hoping he can recover from this as well as one could imagine🙏
It’s so obvious that Vini and Mbappé can’t be on the pitch together.
Sell Vini. He’s a club legend, but letting someone of Mbappé’s quality go would be foolish. I’d prefer Mbappé on the left, but if he stays at ST, he simply can’t play alongside Vini.
Higher scoring rates back then + playing in great teams inflated their numbers
Better to compare GPG relative to league avg, % of team goals and how far ahead they were of other ATG scorers, those dudes still elite in any era for me though
They’re frying him so bad when he’s literally correct
Relative to state of the league, Leicester’s defensive midfield and creative players mog Palace’s.
Vardy >> Mateta
15/16 just an easier league title to win

Olise’s palace relative to era is nowhere near that Leicester side lmfao, his 25/26 season is a level above anything mahrez ever did lmao
100th%ile goals, BCC, xG + xGA share, accurate thru balls, successful dribbles
99th%ile assists, G/A share, key passes, progressive carries, xT, long ball accuracy
96th%ile progressive passes
17th%ile BCM%, 5th%ile turnovers
And those tapes. Ridiculous guy
Excluded 2017 to fit the narrative.
Picked 2/4 playoffs with Curry injured.
Used noisy playoff samples without adjusting for 3PT luck or padding.
Include all RS + PS mins, even with Curry injured (image 1). Or isolate healthier 2021–26 playoffs with the same method (image 2).

Attention span and focus are going to be the next big things. Most people have already lost their ability to focus deeply. So use that advantage. Read books. Learn philosophy. Watch meaningful movies. Read thoughtful articles. Train your mind to think deeply instead of constantly seeking entertainment. While everyone else is busy consuming content, you should be busy building your mind. Because the person who can control their attention in a world full of distractions will have the power to stand apart from the crowd. And that person could be YOU.

I really don’t think the whole “analytics vs. eye test” debate is what people make it out to be anymore, I don’t think anyone is truly one or the other. At this point I think it’s much more about people who are willing to approach basketball with nuance and an actual thought process vs. people who aren’t.
There are plenty of people who reject all-in-one metrics but are still great at using evidence to support their evaluations. Plenty of people who prioritize film and genuinely study the game rather than relying on highlights or narratives. And plenty of people who heavily value analytics who also watch film to understand what the numbers are capturing, or why those numbers are overrating/underrating a player.
There are so many people on this app who genuinely love basketball and put a ton of effort into evaluating players, even if their processes look completely different. I have a ton of respect for that, and I think there’s a lot to learn from people who approach the game differently.
What bothers me is how much of basketball discourse comes from people who don’t seem to have any real evaluation process at all. Their opinions are shaped by popular narratives, reputations, team success, or whatever the final result happened to be, without much consideration for everything that went into producing that result.
There is SO much nuance to evaluating basketball players. Roles, responsibilities, teammates, schemes, matchups, scalability, the ways players create advantages and the ways they capitalize on them, how their strengths and weaknesses interact with the players around them.
And that’s what makes dismissing an entire evaluation process so frustrating to me. Two people can watch the same player, look at the same evidence, and reach different conclusions for perfectly reasonable reasons. That’s not a problem. The problem is when people aren’t even interested in doing that work and instead let a narrative or a final result do all the evaluating for them.
This goes for both sides too, it’s not meant to call out one group specifically.
I don’t care if someone’s process looks completely different from mine. If they’re consistent, thoughtful, and willing to challenge their own conclusions, there’s probably something I can learn from them, or at least respect.
Basketball is way too complex for these conversations to constantly get reduced to who won, who put up better numbers, or who passes someone’s personal eye test. I just wish more people were interested in understanding WHY things happen rather than using the final result to dictate the whole evaluation.
